Translation:
South Africans in the country as well as abroad are in a pinch over the police's criminal record center is currently closed, apparently due to a “payment dispute”. This has already experienced a delay of several months with the issuance of police clearance certificates after the center.
Applicants and couriers came across a dead man's door last week when they wanted to collect clearance certificates at this center in Francis Baard Street in the Pretoria city center.
A police clearance certificate is an official document issued by the criminal record and crime scene management centers and indicates whether or not any criminal convictions have been recorded against an individual.
This leaves, among others, work, visa, firearm license applicants as well as criminal investigators with a huge dilemma.
