so there is only one DNA analysis lab for the whole or Guateng, or is it for the whole country, and there is [now] only one DNA analysis machine? - wow that's absolutely brilliant law enforcement thinking there.

Maybe this explains why the SAPS fingerprint guy that came to my house after a robbery just over a year ago, did not want to bag the dump that one of the criminals took in my garden - it would have been waiting in an endless backlog in Pretoria somewhere stinking up the lab, although there were also lollypop sticks that would have had DNA on them and the guy didn't want to bag those either...

Seriously though, I don't think it's the policing that's the real problem here but the court & prison systems. You could have a 200% increase in the number of arrests but that doesn't mean anything if you're crime rate isn't going down.
