Hi all,

I'm wondering if you would be able to goto SAPS and ask/find out if "X" person got a restraining order against someone for "Y" incident.

In my case, X person has died, but as far as I understand it, she got a restraining order against someone for "Y" incident.

Can I goto SAPS and get that information or they can confirm the restraining order was done etc.

Family member... who has since then died.
The restraining order was against another person for assault.

Then no....

You are neither party, and since one party has died then the restraining order is null and void.

Obviously I know that especially the null and void part, I need it for something else = Character thingy.

Does this have anything to do with the person's death? Are there suspicions? If so inform the investigating officer, he will follow up on it or not.

You cannot legally obtain that information.

Okay, I don't really WANT the information, what I want to know is, is that information there... if it IS there, then that's all I need to know.
So it's like saying "SAPS Officer, does a RA exist for the parties involved, yes... okay, great"

Well since X is dead I don't think it will be in place now anymore though so it should not make a difference. Unless it has something to do with X's passing.

I think the problem here is that you guys don't understand the context of why I want to know, I think if I could explain it to you, you'd all understand better.

Right now, I can't explain it and it sucks...

It's all part of parcel of the issues I'm having :(

But if there is / was a restraining order against the person done by the person who has passed away, it would be great and thus, I'd want to be able to get someone to check with information provided.

Unfortunately no they can't and won't tell you that....

The other's are correct. Legally you won't be able to obtain this information.
