Just thought I'd share ;)

I filed my stuff on Tuesday (04/08) online at about 17h00 and the next day at about 16h30 I received notification that my assessment was complete. This morning I checked and the refund is safely in my account :D
Wow, that's impressive!

yeah they are very fast this year. Mine was done on a Thursday and by the Monday my money was in my account.

filed mine last week I think - got a email yesterday saying I've been chosen for review and need to upload my supporting documents, I've uploaded all details except receipts, which I've said I would do if necessary -and will see how long it takes from here... impressed at the speed it goes, and how you can upload various documents, PDFs, Excel, etc....

I'm just worried I did mine incorrectly :( First time doing it myself.

I'm on commision - and company deducts nothing except PAYE - so I claimed back around 25% of the tax paid.

dlk, did you efile? and why did you email instead of uploading?
i ask because last year i uploaded but the docs were not picked up because apparently when you are audited it goes manual. in fact i had to email the docs to the assessor and the turn around was <4days.

I'm on 3...

Out of interest - have you heard anything since uploading your 'supporting' documents.

Nothing,

Phoned on Tuesday to find out if they need anything more like they did last year. Chick in the Call centre said nope. It's all been sent to PTA (My branch) to be reviewed. I should check again if I don't hear anything by the 17th of August

I got exactly R0.00 back! :(

Is there any document I can read from SARS that explains when we get money back and how this whole thing works? I is n00b..

If you keep getting stuck - try the SARS monitoring office like I did for 2008 - got me sorted out in 10-days... and then again helped me out when SARS couldn't tell me why they fined me R10,000....

Do they just randomly decide to audit you? Know its been 3 years for you...but is it a random thing at first?

I think they have a threshold, so if you claim back more than a certain %.

Someone said if its over R10,000 - but I think they might base it on a % of your tax payed or salary - cause the more you earn, the more you're likely to get back... or not?

The calculated amount SARS says I'll get back is about 25% of the tax I've paid.
