I am a pensioner with the only income i get is a monthly pension but i am being audited by SARS for the third year in a row now.I this a general practice now and are they doing this to stagger payouts?

Same with my dad. He's also a pensioner and he's being audited for the 3rd year in a row. They told him it's just random. Doesn't look random to me.

My wife is also being audited for the 3rd time now.

They might also be delaying to make their haul look bigger, SARS has been captured can't trust them anymore..

I have also been audited 3 times in a row before, and there after never again. Maybe you're lucky and it's the last time

Shortfall or not, the numbers are the numbers. If they owe u, they owe u. But it seems they are on a mission to make it as hard as possible and make you prove every single thing. This in itself is fine, but it gets to a point where u log dispute after dispute and a year later you still have not been paid out. Then is starting to harbor on criminality from their side.

That is likely what is happening... The pieces that have to be picked up after state capture.
But yes I imagine they're going to become pretty much zero in the future, in terms of tax refund.
They are headed that way especially with all the legislation they want to pass such as total abolishment of the medical rebate, etc..
