SARS Auto Assessments 2024

I was auto-assessed overnight, and I can’t see anything prompting me to accept the assessment. The submission is fully completed and greyed out with no edit or submit or accept buttons visible which I can see.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with the outcome, but how does SARS expect one to challenge the auto-assessment if they submit it on your behalf and just lock it?
You can double check the locked one, if your happy just leave it.

If you want to edit something, request a new return, it will be pre populated as per auto assessment but you will be able to edit. Do updates if needed and submit version 2 of your return. New assessment will be created

Thanks for that!

I also found this on the SARS website: https://www.sars.gov.za/types-of-tax/personal-income-tax/filingseason/how-does-auto-assessment-work/

What must I do if I do not agree with my auto-assessment?

There is no need to file an objection to the assessment. Simply access your tax return via eFiling or the SARS MobiApp, complete the return, and file it via eFiling or MobiApp on or before the normal due date for non-provisional taxpayers of 21 October 2024.

Filing a return after the normal due date of 21 October 2024 will attract penalties.

If we accept the updates in your tax return, we will issue a reduced or additional assessment to you. If we do not accept the updates in your tax return, we will let you know why not. If you disagree with the reason(s) why we did not accept the updates in your tax return, you can follow the normal route to object to SARS’s decision.

Was auto assessed, email received during the night. Everything looks the same as usual. Getting a refund so expecting it in the next 72 hours...
