That is what I also did as I was earning well below the line....however my refund was being held up because of 2009 and 2010....which I submitted with supporting docs....awaiting my verification and then hopefully get my money....will be buying the SO a LV bag for her bday.

Penalties are easy to get reversed. Had over R15k penalties reversed for a client. He ended up with a R30k refund.
 
Filed my return on Saturday.

Had to submit supporting docs - and now I wait.

Looking forward to getting some money back :D
 
My friend says whatever bug they had is fixed and we should expect our money in our accounts tomorrow. And I called SARS and they also confirmed it. $$
 
Does anybody know how long ago you can claim a medical expense from. I had a medical procedure done in 2013 of which I paid out of pocket and did not claim it back.

Only found the slips last week.
 
Submission filed last night... No audit required, thank goodenss!

Now waiting for the ching-ching.
 
had a pleasant experience at the SARS VIP unit in Parliament. I should get a nice refund after they are done auditing me, this is the second time I'm being audited in 3 years though, slightly annoying.

You can only claim what happened in the tax year that it happened in.
So for 2013 med aid stuff, you had to claim those in the 2013 tax year.
Sars gets really sticky when it comes to dates of claims... my donations article 18a document last year didnt have printed on it that it was for the period Mar 2013 to Feb 2014 and was subsequently rejected. Had to ask for a new detailed document from the Childrens home.
