SARS E-Filing 2015

one source of income. one irp5. no retirement annuities. pension fund is with work. No traveling. No investments.

They selected me to be audited. Do I only submit my IRP5 from work (which is a SARS document anyway as it looks like the document on e-filing with all the blocks where info has to be filled in but mine is pre-populated)?

What else can I submit?

Yep, and medical aid's tax certificate if you have medical aid.

Remember to also include your bank account tax statement that shows how much interest your savings earned you. This gets taxed too...yet we're always urged to save save save.

Seeing what's happening to Greece right now I'm not entirely sure that money in the bank is the best idea. Most of mine is tied up in low risk investments, but I'm still not sure how I'd withdraw it if bank accounts are being restricted.

medical aid is on my wife's name so she is the main member. I pay her for it though, but that is none of SARS business.

All my money is either in my current account or bond. Nothing else. So doubt I could've earned any noticeable interest on my current account.

Submitted on 1st, selected for verification on the 1st as well, submitted all docs same day, ITSA issued on the 4th, Completion letter issued on 6th. Hoping for return to be paid soon.

Quick question -

How does it work if I have received 2 IRP5s from 2 different employers - do all the details get loaded into the IT12 form on eFiling - or are there some details that I have to load manually?

I got nothing yet and i submitted on the 1st.... was not selected for audit or verification, patiently waiting on my 11k.

Just a heads up: with your out of pocket medical expenses (money you paid for medical things after you ran out of funds in the medical aid savings account), the tax certificate from your medical aid provider should have this total and is satisfactory to SARS as proof. You do not need to send slips as well.

I had R1.5k out of pocket and Discovery had that listed on the tax certificate and SARS was happy.

If you paid out of pocket but did not submit the slips to your medical aid provider so that they could reject a refund, but keep tally, then you will need to submit all of those slips to SARS...

Submitted husband's tax return just now. He is marked for audit.

Where do I do the upload of all the docs on their site?

Indeed. Always submit it. Just makes it easier.

I always heard the complete opposite. That the slips are ESSENTIAL and the certificate from the medical aid merely states what was not paid and COULD have been paid by you, but is no proof thereof.

Submitted on Tuesday, money was in my account this morning when I woke up :)

It was stated in last year's SARS thread that the medical certificate is SARS acceptable. I was verified by SARS this year and they did not ask for any individual slips

Ag your tax return is my salary  I'm dying inside.

It's my first time i am actually getting back.... (well still waiting). My buddies around me are all getting their refunds albeit is slightly/largely less than mine.

A friend of a friend who knows one of the Prod developers at SARS says there's a problem with the system that's why some of the refunds haven't been paid out.
