SARS E-Filing 2016

You're likely already flagged now.

I did it last year, entered a few medical expense values as I tried to see how much I needed it to be(even up to 50k) to change my return (nothing did). I wasn't audited. In my company's experience, it's totally random.

Does anyone know how/ where to include gains/ losses of diposal of listed shares? I see the relevant codes are 6506 and 6507 but now where can I add these items? This was speculative in nature and therefore not a CGT event. I have the IT3(c) certificate for these deductions and I cannot see any glaringly obvious unticked tick boxes for this type gains/ losses.

Side note: I also did my tax on the 1 July last year and everything went smoothly. This year the site seems to be a lot more unresponsive and takes a long time to load the return.

1st attempt at phoning call centre was unsuccessful. Consultant keeps on telling me to include it under the captial gains/ loss section. Could not seem to grasp that this is not a CGT event and that is should be income in nature. How do you get someone competent on the phone?

Is there a threshold on how much in "expenses not covered by medical aid" before it is allowed as a deduction? I have about R2K in such but see the amount isn't part of the deductions unless it is included in my employer submission?

I'm not sure how to fill in the Tax Free Investment section.
Would capital gains/losses only be applicable if I sold shares?
How do I calculate the net return on investment (profit/loss)?

I was so bummed when i never received a SMS this morning from FNB LOL...
Oh well tomorrow morning may bring some happy news.

I filed 2 July in the morning. With fnb, nothing yet.

wow I'm seriously impressed, my audit completed and assessment unchanged

previous audits took 3 months

How do you know that your audit as been completed?...what has your sars status changed too?

They send you a letter to confirm whether or not your assessment has changed or not - did you receive such a letter?
