Would:
"eFiling Status: Assessment received" mean everything is fine and sorted, or are they still investigating it?

I have had the message when hitting calculate that reads " Lump sum declared but directive outstanding" WTF is that lol

Check the assessment IT34. It should indicate at the bottom if you were selected for audit verification.

I don't understand why everyone is so happy with getting money back. All it means is that you have overpaid tax for the year. The best scenario is to have nothing payable or refundable.

Seems to relate to a payout where the administrators did not put the directive number on the tax certificate that they issued. I have one client where this is the case and relates to a pension payout administered by Alexander Forbes.

In most cases I would agree with you. In my case I cannot structure my "monthly salary package" to include my medical costs or my RA contributions.

Not always the case of willingly overpaying. Some relate to losses on rental property, privately funded medical aid and retirement annuities, out of pocket medical expenses, etc.

And would the call centre be the only ones who would be able to tell me what?????

So you won't be happy getting money back that's owed to you?

Do you have any other IRP5/IT3 certificates prepopulated on your tax return? Not your normal employer tax certificate.

The tax directive number should be there. If not, then you will have ti give them a call.

I think i should call them later (when the bosses go home lol)

Im just not understanding this move here

I agree with you - but you getting money back that you never anticipated you'd get back (even though you technically overpaid).
Would you prefer to save your R100 per month for the tax year of get it back in lump sum afterwards - its like savings account you never put any money into.

Completed mine at 21:35 last night. For the first time since I have had permanent employment at my current employer (33 years on the 6th of October) I must pay in! Luckily not too much (R534.00), but still.......:(

Update.......

Luckily I realised what I did wrong to show that I have to pay in. I made a mistake about the members of my medical aid. My youngest son went off my medical aid when he turned 25, but he still was a member for the first three months of the tax year. I requested a correction, updated the return with the correct information and everything balances out now. Happiness!:p

Self funded medical aid tax payers have no other way of claiming back besides their annual tax return. Just because your salary and tax credits are payslipped monthly doesn't mean everyone lives like that. I'll enjoy swimming in my bath of 156 R100's later this week though....

I was selected for audit and I submitted the docs immediately

I have been audited for 5yrs running LOL - Takes about 21 working days if you lucky.

I have a new error on my side :(

As has been mentioned, you, along with me, were just selected for verification where by they want us to supply documents to prove the figures in the tax return.

Audit and anal start with the same letter for a very good reason. You'd feel an audit process...
