I see, thanks... not as expensive as I thought.Would depend entirely on the complexity of the tax return. Can range from R500 to R3 000.

Good grief.. I had no idea that registering for eFiling was such a mission. I got my tax number in early 2014 when I started working. I then subsequently changed bank accounts, and homes.
I have tried to register for eFiling, but the fact that I moved homes, means that each time I try, my application gets rejected. That coupled with the fact that my banking details have changed.
SARS now wants me to go to one of the branches, and bring along the following:
-ID
-Certified copy of ID
-Bank stamped bank statement
-Proof of residence
What a missionalso meaning that I'll have to take some time off work
Have still not heard ANYTHING from SARS since uploading my supporting documents on the 12th of July.
Mine was logbook and medical aid certificate. Think I will just give them a call to find out if anything is wrong. That is weird since I submitted my docs 18 July and got reply 1 Aug.....only med/RA docs, maybe yours is more complicated.
Will just tell you to wait for auditors to contact you. Called to ask whether docs uploaded adequate.Mine was logbook and medical aid certificate. Think I will just give them a call to find out if anything is wrong.

Yes I just wanted confirmation that all the documents uploaded successfully and that there were no other documents outstanding. The call center will not be able to really tell you if the auditors have any issues and you cannot speak to the auditors directly. They will be able to tell you if all the documents have been uploaded successfully and if anything is outstanding, that is about it.
Remember it takes 30 days, that is 30 working days, which works out to about 6 weeks (if there are no holidays in the period), from the date you submitted (plus 1 day as SARS generally works from the date following the day on which you submit the supporting documents).
The audit process generally consists of the actual verification by one of the many audit teams, then there will be a review of their audit findings and audit evidence and then another level of review before sign off (only then will you get the completion letter) so it is a long winded process.
They often ask services providers to confirm the details you submitted (i.e they will contact the administrator of your RA and ask then to verify the information you submitted). Doing this kind of verification on a logbook is difficult. SARS does however do a significant amount of checking on the logbooks (as this is an area that they have identified a high risk in terms of fraudulent claims) including verifying the mileage with service records and manufacturers, requesting employers to verify that you are actually required to travel for work, the distances traveled according to their records, the vehicle/(s) used etc.
Not too sure issuing of SOA means verification done although docs were uploaded 1 August 2016.Statement of Account uploaded 5 August 2016. Strangely no email or sms notification.
Guess finished with verification. Cant believe they were so quick.
