Yeah I was wondering the same, Satrix UT claims it's due to a system upgrade in October...lol

I changed banks in October of 2015 (from ABSA to Capitec), will I need to go back into a SARS branch to verify my updated details?

No, changed mine on the submission last year and all was fine. I think they do the verification themselves.
On the IT34 you will see the banking details, just change it to the new ones before submitting.

Good question, I also moved banks. My IRP5 shows my new bank details though.

Since I now get a vehicle allowance and my RA's are listed as tax benefits, I probably will only get a few hundred .

Jirre, I'm doubting myself now :o I'll go check but I'm sure that's all it took.

Edit:
Just check my correspondence with SARS now and my e-mails of last year. Nothing in relation to changing banking details. So I'm 100% sure I just updated it on my IT34 notice.

I only corrected my branch number and had to go into SARS office to have it verified.

Another question, by when is it reasonable to request my IRP5 from my employers (with a "S" because I changed jobs end Sep/early Oct in 2015)?

You should be able to ask them already. Pretty sure they should send it out without you needing to ask them...that's what mine does.

I asked for mine last week, saying I am preparing to submit my tax return.

You should be able to request it from 1 June as their deadline to submit it to SARS is end of May. It should also be populated on your tax return and you only really need it if it's not there and SARS selects you for audit verification.

702 has one every hour at least once.
 
Will I be able to submit it directly after midnight, or do they activate it at a certain time like 8AM when everybody can flood the system at once?
 
Mailers now being sent out - just received one.

Hoping to find a return available tonight like last year. Travelling tomorrow and want to get in at the front of the potential "request for doc's" queue in case I get asked again like last year.
