Once can donate up to R100 00 per year free of donations tax. Any tax due on donations is payable by the donor, but should that tax not be paid then the donor and donee are joint and severally liable.
So a person can receive up to R100 k per year tax free?

Say a person earns R80k per year and gets R100k as a donation from a family member that R100k is tax free?

Honestly can't see the tax man allowing that.

I have a question regarding RA payments.
My monthly contributions x 12 is more than what is showed on my contribution certificate, difference is s few thousand. What am I missing?

How long does SARS take to pay out?
I filed at the beginning of the month already and haven't received anything.

Paid out 4 days after the statement of account notification came through.

I submitted my SARS on the 15th of July.

That same day they asked for supporting documentation.

Today I got feedback with the reply:

You are kindly requested to submit the information listed below to SARS in order for us to complete your request
- Bond statement (s) in respect of your rental property
- Reason for rental loss.

The bond statements I am sorted. I uploaded a FNB document that sums up every property (interest charged). But I got every single month since March 2015 to Feb 2016 where I wrote off interest.

The second section, I got all levies, rates and taxes, ADSL and Telkom, petrol, etoll and maintenance charges docs.

Must I upload all, or must I explain why I got a loss ?

I was thinking to print out my cheque account and credit card statements (cause there are also going things off).

Well, I scanned every single receipt in. I pray for the guy who is doing my sars ... 20 docs uploaded, every doc maxed the 2mb in size !

AND ITS ALOT

If you do not receive your refund withing 3/4 business days after receiving your IT34, and you did not receive a letter to submit documents to verify your return, then SARS is most likely busy with an audit of the refund (this can take up to 60 days). Expect to receive a letter or a call from SARS. If you want to make sure, call the call center, they will be able to tell you if SARS is doing an audit of the refund (there is no other way to find out unless you obviously get the letter or the call).

If they are not happy with the audit of the refund or your response to their call/letter, then expect them to do a manual audit which can take up to 12 months

Did your RA debit order increase during the course of the year? Many have an automatic 10% increase.

Oddly enough, just got an sms with my updated figures. Now probably another few days before payment :)

Good grief.. I had no idea that registering for eFiling was such a mission. I got my tax number in early 2014 when I started working. I then subsequently changed bank accounts, and homes.

I have tried to register for eFiling, but the fact that I moved homes, means that each time I try, my application gets rejected. That coupled with the fact that my banking details have changed.

SARS now wants me to go to one of the branches, and bring along the following:
-ID
-Certified copy of ID
-Bank stamped bank statement
-Proof of residence

What a mission  also meaning that I'll have to take some time off work

I spent half the day at the PE branch just for them to tell me that I need to submit proof of my HP agreement for my car...why they refused to give this information to me over the phone astounds me.

Go early and make sure your bladder is empty before you start queuing

What is the difference between a audit and a manual audit?

SARS keeps a tight lid on what they do during a verification and audits apart from the obvious (like agreeing documents submitted by the taxpayer against the information included in the ITR12). I suspect the reference to manual audit lies in how the taxpayer was selected for audit. With the verification and the 1st stage audit of the refund the taxpayers are selected by an automated risk analysis tool, while with the 3rd stage audit the taxpayer is selected by a SARS representative

Every single year verification which I pass easily by uploading relevant proof. Why every single year? Can only assume its to delay paying me my refund

What does it state on your assessment ito selected for audit/verification?

I'm one but would rather have someone else either vouch for me or to recommend you someone before recommending myself.

I'm based in CT but have clients in Gauteng and here. Email has made the world a small place with no need for physical interactions.

How much would it cost about? ball park figure? if I may ask?
