Still waiting for any further communication... Sars is taking its time this year.
I know the feels, also waiting for further communication. Tried to call this morning just to find out if its been allocated at least and was 390 in queue :D

I spent 1 hour at a SARS branch to see if I could speed up the bank verification.

Unfortunately noone at the branch can help. I was told just to wait the 21 working days out.

Bloody painful

The worst is I know SARS doesnt stick to their own timelines.
I've had a verification previously that took 3 months, I had an audit done that took over 12 months to complete (supposedly 90 working day turn around time). It really grinds my gears that these people are allowed drag their bloody feet, but if you're late by 1 day, they come down on you like a ton of bricks.

Friday morning I submitted my return on eFilling and 5 seconds after pressing the button I realized I forgot to claim for the solar panels. So request a correction and resubmitted with solar panel claim. Not surprisingly now I need to submitted documentation, no mention of solar, just all income and investment related documents.

Looking for some advise as someone that is working overseas, and still submitting SARS.
Mostly due to me not wanting to pay CGT on investments still in SA, as I'm happy with their returns there at the moment.
Country I am in also have DTA with SA.

In terms of the foreign I am just wanting to confirm ( as the form changed again this year ), since I'm not in SA
- under the s10(1)(o)(ii) which excludes s8A/8C
- date range out of SA is 1 March 23 to 29 Feb 24 (366 days)
- working days is 240 and working days out of SA is 240
- my total foreign income goes into 4259
- the tax I paid goes into foreign tax credit box

So far under calculator it comes back with 0, which is good. However, just need some verification if that seems ok?
I tried TaxTim and that was pretty useless.

Got hold of SARS this morning, they don't send out messages when a case is allocated anymore. So my case is with someone. Received on the 21st of July, hopefully doesn't get delayed

What's the best number to contact them on ? They have like 5 days left in their 21 days so also just want to hear. Haven't see the allocated email

The 0800007277 number, there is a long wait i was 170th in queue but it took like 20 mins to get through. Have your case number from the email they sent when they received the documents

Had to go to the branch to sort out returns from 2008 and 2009.

Walked into the branch and got my number. Walked into the waiting area and my number got called immediately.

They hit me with a R1500 penalty for the old returns... But, through further work from the agent my refund is doubled, pending audit of course, which I did not expect at all.

Great Fast service at the Doringkloof SARS office.

So I just got hold of SARS, person said my case was cancelled for some reason but he could see I submitted all the documents.
He ran through everything within 30 seconds and verified my bank account.
He said I should expect payout within 72 hours

Hello everyone,

I filed my tax and an auditor has finalized it.. However, I erroneously forgot to include a chunk of the medical expenditures to claim a refund. It's a lot of out-of-pocket expenses,. R300k for my mum's surgery. How do I rectify this?

Out of curiosity when did your initial case get allocated?

Loaded my picture, ID, bank details and proof of address on the 20th.

Received this SMS this morning.

This was just for a bank verification, not a normal verification or audit that would require it to be allocated.
At least thats my understanding
