All municipalities to disclose tender bids

COMPANIES owned or linked to ANCYL president Julius Malema have come under heavy scrutiny after the South African Revenue Services instructed municipalities to provide information and documents relating to awarded tenders.

Sars had issued a memo to all municipalities in the country ordering them to furnish it with information and documentation, in terms of Section 74A and B of the Income Tax Act.
Sowetan has a copy of the memo. The information sought was mainly for the administration of the Income Tax Act.

Titled “Special Projects Enforcement Investigations” and signed by a Sars manager for special projects, the letter cited six companies Malema is believed to have links with.

So the government eventually decided to do something about Malema. The Anc has given up. Methinks Malema has become such an embarrassement to the ANC that he leaves them with very little options. Lets pray that Malema shuts his trap soon otherwise the ANC might have to do it for him. Permanently. Should Malema be permanently silenced by the ANC, no doubt it will be blamed on the far right.
We live in interesting times.

He pissed off a lot of people in the run up to Polokwane and hasn't shut his mouth since. I think with the tenders etc he has now given his enemies within the ANC too much ammo. Hopefully anyway.

I hope this will become policy in future, a sort of internal governance that forces all tender bids to be scrutinized by SARS officials or some auditing firm to make sure no government links are happening.

haha at those who think anything will come of this.
You need to duck in Luthuli House or you will bump your head on the roof, what with all the stuff under the carpets.

I think you are underestimating SARS motherless...

If anything, they supposed to have the best auditers in the country!

The best Auditors vs Being Zuma's buddy... Nothing will come of this, the auditors report WILL state 'No Irregularities' - You are fooling yourself if SARS will prosecute him.

And if they do, it will probably be pointed out that the auditors were white...

+1

here to "show" you SARS did "something".

anyone can tell me how many high ranking convicted anc member(s) really in prison?
Or can be prosecuted to prove guilty?

If I'm not mistaken the ANC youth league is an autonomous organization, as such the ANC cant do squat to shut JM's trap

That leaves the ANC with very little options. After Malema's death, do you think that the far right will get the blame?

Ahh, an autonomous organization that lives in ANC's head office with a president who is on the uber committee running the ANC, appears on all ANC platforms and speaks on behalf of the ANC? Yup, definitely autonomous.

He will probably get a refund. As we know JZ's balls are up his ass and SARS up JZ's..

Agreed. This is just an eye blind and it will give Malema more credit within the ANC.

SARS will do exactly 1 thing: Get their fair share. They go after tax evasion, not corrupt tenders. All comunication is Taxpayer-SARS priviledged.

Nothing will come of this aside from maybe JM paying tax penalties. I doubt that will happen though. Most of the cash he is receiving from these tenders is tax free due to being dividends.

SARS have to treat all and sundry equally, and don't forget that. if they don't then they set a precedence. this will for sure and without a doubt be under scrutiny and you have to remember that SARS are under oath of secrecy. no member of SARS can discuss this with anyone even the president mr zuma himself.

The enforcements system sars have pretty much analyze everyone in the country, nobody is exempt from this rule.
