Solution: Stop earning anything and start claiming free money like the other 80% of South Africans.

It seems that this is the mission for SARS, scaring the hell out of people already working their as.s off just to make ends meet. It is one thing if SARS is going after multi-millionaires completely dodging tax but I highly doubt they will keep their main focus on those and rather intimidate the people who have no financial means to defend them self. This is turning into straight up scaring people into extortion.

It seems SARS is on a mission to criminalize people who are employed and already in one or more way contributing to the economy above and beyond just TAX contributions.

The funny reality of people paying no TAX is that they are contributing to the actual economy spending the non-taxed income across more areas than just being collected by central tax authority who wastes the money year after year on bs. This contributes FAR greater to the SA economy than just going straight into the tax coffers that is looted by just a few people and wasted on many.

The Boksburg Magistrate’s Court heard how SARS had received a complaint from a taxpayer that his personal income tax refund was paid into an incorrect bank account. SARS said it conducted an investigation and found that the refund was paid into an FNB account in the name of Khathutshelo Mashau.

It was also found that several refunds for other taxpayers were paid into the same account. The affected taxpayers denied knowing the FNB account that received the refunds. They also stated that they did not request that their personal information and bank accounts be changed to Khathutshelo Mashau.

It is difficult to take SARS seriously when they cannot stop something as simple as this.
