Best interest rate
Last time I checked the best interest rate for a one-year fixed investment was with TymeBank @ 7% or 8% IIRC. Anything matching that, or better?mybroadband.co.za
It took over 3 months for me to get a response for a request for remission of penalty. from what I have seen is that they usually reverse the R250 penalties. It took over 3 months for me to get a response for a request for remission of penalty. I thought I had a strong case, and it was literally only for an amount of R250, but they rejected it without reason.
I suspect that their go-to response is to reject most cases, and then look into it properly only if it gets appealed. That way they can draw it out and hopefully people will just cave and pay like I did.
They didn't my case, but might be different when it's filed by a Tax Practitioner rather than an individual.from what I have seen is that they usually reverse the R250 penalties.
There's no way of knowing of what SARS will do. Fingers crossed.
thanksThey didn't my case, but might be different when it's filed by a Tax Practitioner rather than an individual.
Fingers crossed for you though. I really hope this works out for the better for you and the client.
Nice, always awesome when you dodge a bullet!Good day everyone,
I know it's been a longtime but that's how SARS rolls. The request for remission was approved by SARS and the penalty has been waived. Thank you everyone for your advice and kind words. It's been a rough couple of months. No longer part of that firm atleast from next month. Accepted an offer from a much bigger firm, name starting with P(wont get into more details.)

Standards have dropped so low nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if it is PWC!
lol why does that seem like a backhanded comment at me but you are right about one of the two things you mentioned.Standards have dropped so low nowadays, I wouldn't be surprised if it is PWC!

Ah I see. Just happy that I avoided jail time. Though I wouldn't mind that experience. Heard SAICA allows you to do articles through prison. It would have been a win-win.Like I told you on Page 1, finding employment elsewhere would be a breeze for anyone in your position!![]()
This really hurt my soul to read. Submitted 2 RFR’s last week.3rd lesson - SARS will never* waive penalties, they will waive interest if you ask nicely. *in my 18 years experience.
For what I've seen the penalty amounts scale according to the amount owing and how late the return isThis really hurt my soul to read. Submitted 2 RFR’s last week.
They charged me R3000 penalty for not submitting my 2023 refund. I honestly thought I had - turns out I had actually just hit save and never came back to submit (I actually posted about it on myBB at the time)
Only found out last week when they sent me the FIRST and ONLY notification that I owed them. Soon as I hit submitted I got credit of ~R700. Checked my SOA a few days later and they had subtracted the 700 from the.. 4000 now it was - they had added another R1000 in May for not submitting my 2023 return.
Does everyone get fined R1000 per month at some point or certain people just targeted? Anyway I submitted the RFR’s begging. The end
