Otherwise like Google.. its not really South African to me.. but just spammy url.. which is why I also protest at za.msn.com being there Its spammy.

You can get a [email protected] email address from hotmail.co.za

But I get your point, it is not a Proudly SA website, like MyBB

As well as produced by a SA company. But you could argue Microsoft SA is a SA company.

If microsoft hosted za.msn.com on local servers I would accept it as South African. South Africa saves money by not having to buy US and int bandwidth , and by hosting in SA you are supporting hosting in the local industry (Im sure a lot of ISPs would love to host a site like that)

Same would apply to a google.co.za or a real hotmail.co.za.

hotmail is rather popular..think its like the most used free email service out there...but not south african,,,But MyBB should be proud of being that close to 24.com and beating the times

Very interesting indeed! Bekdik, I think the top sites tend to be hosted locally. At least most in the top 10. As for the top 100, well that is a good question.

There is a point where advertising can carry local hosting. The problem is providing competition to the top sites is expensive. No use you have a brilliant site but it takes too long to load and the surfing experience is deteriorated compared to a locally hosted service.

It's great to see Mybroadband up there against those publishers who hold the monopoly and get the majority of online advertising cash.
