This just in from SAIX

Notice Ref : NN0004294
Failure Type : Fault Condition
Status : In Progress
Problem Description : Link - SAT-3 normalisation in progress. 5 minutes breaks to traffic or slow response to traffic until 17:00on 02/02/2010
Impact : No Connectivity
Time Down : 2010-02-02 06:32
Time Up : 2010-02-02 00:00
Sites : NNOC
Cause : Degraded cable
ETTR : > 24 Hours
Progress : The SAT-3 cable is degraded due a suspected power problem between Abidjan and Lagos. Telkom SA is busy localising the cause of the failure.

It's times like that that I'm thankful this site is hosted locally.

I agree, the whole International link is down, cant see anything, have unshapped cap and 4mb adsl line. Come on Telkom!!

\o/ all kinds of joy at the bottom end of the world again.

and what happened to fail over routing? isnt traffic supposed to be routed via Sat or Seacom or even SAFE if im not mistaken in case of Sat-3 failure?

How long till myBB picks up this story?

Fun times, wasnt the whole point telkoms SAT-3 line was better than seacom because it had redundancy? So much for that. Seacom clients must be laughing.

As always Mybb is totally bulletproof. I don't know where these guys get their broadband from but I want some of that action.

Stop being a cheap skate and invest in some carrier pigions :)

How it is possible that i can browse local content when my 2mb line is a VPN direct to the HO in the UK via Verizon, and we do not have a local break out for local browsing?

very wierd.

My international is broken, yet i'm on MyBB?

Wow!

I think we should follow Uncle Julius' policies with the nationalization of the mines and extend that to the telecom sector!

This would never happen if Telkom was State Owned!
That way everything will work all the time!

everything is down now, even google.co.za, Telkom, you should invest in another cable!

I got a better idea, they should pay their staff more money to keep **** working, i'm sure if they stopped paying the CEO 12mil+ annual bonus they could come up with the funds...
Then again if they stopped paying him 12mil+ bonus they could probably afford a backup cable too.

Do you know honestly believe that the South African Government, where our department heads believe that garlic and beetroot can cure aids and showering with lifebouy soap after sex can actually prevent it, or are you referring to the secret south african government that actually has a brain and an education that extends beyond pre-school and is so well hidden that not even the members know they are members?
