Sata add-on cards?

Hi All

All four sata connections used on my PC ....are there any PCI cards available to give at least one or two extra sata connections?

Your best bet is to get a raid card. That can add 4 extra sata ports to your machine. You will need a PCI x4 or higher port for most of them tho.

Are you referring to this? It seems to be identical to the Dealextreme SKU 29745 (see link below).

It appears to be a bilateral converter i.e. you can connect it to either an IDE or a SATA hard drive. The reviews on Dealextreme should give you an idea about the speed/capabilities. You might be able to buy a new cheap motherboard for the same price as a PCIe SATA card! SonicInformed (www.sonicinformed.co.za) the iSonic distributor is in Cape Town. Cafe Viva/Java also sell iSonic equipment.

Had bad experience with DealExtreme last year....still waiting for my USB sound card this after they promised to re-ship another one.

Got myself a Sunix SATA2400 on Friday, plugged it into a spare PCI Express port, has 2 SATA II ports, was easy to install and works great!

Just note that unless you get a PCI Express addon card you will only get SATA I.
