SATA and IDE

Hi GUys

Is SATA faster than IDE

THanks
DD

No. In theory SATA has a faster throughput, but if you take two identical disks - one SATA and one IDE, the performance would be almost identical....

No, they replaced IDE because they found a slower technology.

Heh sarcastic :P.. I wouldn't bank on that reasoning, SCSI is faster tech but it has never surpassed IDE in the desktop market. SATA is cheaper would be more of the reason.

Bottom line, cheaper to manufacture = greater profit/margins for manufacturers. If PATA had been continued to be developed as SATA had it would out-perform it today.
