Hey guys,

I know we have a couple of suppliers on here and so I am wanting to know who, in Durban as I want to pick up tomorrow, has a SATA External Enclosure with USB connection available and in stock. I have seen many online that take my fancy but I am not wanting to wait 7 days for delivery. I want to get my 1Tb drive up and running ASAP :)

This is the type of thing (in fact this brand is great as it matches my current IDE enclosure I have) :

If any Durban folk know of a shop that has them in stock at a good price, then please feel free to let me know too. Does PC Zone have them?

Thanks

EDIT : Oops as I posted this I realised it should probably be in the classifieds section.... sorry

I can get a really nice coolermaster ext hdd, but it costs R226.86 dealer price. How does one compete with etailers you cant period... (Pay for it fetch it costs + markup) i would sell it for at least R450 or R500 to be worth my while. So i reckon order it now... seven days is not so bad.

...but there are guys out there like PC Zone, but I am not sure if they stock them. I suppose I could just pop in tomorrow and have a look but I was hoping there was another retailer out there who could compete. Of course I checked Esquire but they only have a eSATA one and I don't have the connection on my laptop. I need USB.

I would rather look for this one:

It is very convenient, especially if you have multiple external hdd's and don't want a separate enclosure for each one.

I'll be buying my second one at Anstek in PE tomorrow!

Yeah, I had a peek at those. Esquire has one. The problem is I do have more than one drive but in all likelihood the 1Tb drive will spend a lot of time in there, standing out in the open on a table, and with it not being a sealed unit I can imagine it getting lots of dust in over time.

I have a few different ones and the best one (where the hdd and enclosure are bought separately) is a metallic/aluminium MECER unit that I bought for R265. A bit more expensive than the standard ones from some dealers, but worth it.

100% markup...nice:rolleyes:

100% markup...nice:rolleyes:

Ha ha he was scratched off my possibly supplier list as soon as he said that! ;) If you don't add any value to the chain of supply you can't expect a 100% mark up!

I still have to drive to your shop to pick it up, risk getting mugged, stand in queues at the till, pay a car guard, buy petrol and you still want to charge me double what an online store does ;)

100% markup...nice:rolleyes:

in all honesty 10 bucks for transfer you go fetch it you invoice it what would your markup be Zenbaas?
my last two video cards were bought online you just cant compete with stuff like this... well Lancelot best you wait 7 days then i aint working for nada!!!!

Pc zone stocks the usb versions, R150 last time I checked. (was around june)

Cool man. I will pop in and check them out tomorrow. I know before they have had 2.5" enclosures but not 3.5" ones which was a bit silly as they kept 3.5" drives but not 2.5" :)

I also see Matrix appear to have some so that may be another option. I'll have to hit the road tomorrow.
