I don't mind the latency, just want a true 10mb/s uncapped line. The games i play work on a throttled iburst account.
The thing to me is that with satellite there isn't much infrastructure for the provider to setup so its the cheapest distribution model and covers the hole country at once.
A pci card in the pc and your ready to go if you already got a dish and its pointed to the right satellite.
The question is will the price/ gig ever come near to dsl? I don't think so and that's why its will never be a alternative.
If you think about it in 2001 its cost around $300mil to launch a satellite which according to me in today's terms will cost much more than a undersea cable and it hasn't got the bandwidth that a cable has.

Satellite is prone to latency and interference such as sever weather. For a signal transmitter to reach a 40'000km satellite, reach a receiver and return to the original location takes 533ms..... compared to about 80ms (excluding routers) it actually takes via 10000km (5000 out and 5000 back) of fibre. Satellite is fine for regular internet surfing and streaming but not for real-time programs such as online games and VOIP applications.
