HI there.

I stay outside Durban in a area that is semi Town and farm, constant power breaks for days.

No electricity = No cellphone reception, not even 1 bar. (Not even the cellphone repeater works.)
Lots of Fibre outages in the are, due to the infrastructure and mountain hills.

I work from home:
  • Emails
  • Day time ZOOM training sessions.
  • Night time maybe Netflix
Any recommendations for a good ISP? I see most of them have 5mb upload, have anyone tested that especially with services like ZOOM?

Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Seems like some are having luck with starlink. I don't know how long that will work though.

Got a more precise location for us to recommend a WISP?

Have a look at Telkom mobile its the one network we have better reception in more obscure locations Durban included. Telkom mobile is not Telkom been with them for years and been happy.

Get a sim and try them out

Speed is not so much of an issue as latency—about 600ms for the traditional satellite, making Zoom a very unpleasant experience if not unusable.
