Hi there,

I would just like some information regarding satelite networking.

The info that I want is who can supply and install satellite network products, and the cost per month, etc.....

I would also appreciate if someone can point me a website of satellite networks (pref. pages from South Africa)

Thank you!

If its a satellite internet connection you are after then Telkom is unfortunately one of the only ISP to choose from. If you find any other be sure to post.

By the way satellite is crap!

When I was in Souht America I came accross websites that get you connected via satellite. INTERNATIONAL companies. You have to buy the sat via internet though, unless they have branches locally. Speeds up to 2MBIT.

Sorry, but I cannot remember the sites... :( try googling it.

Satellite in SA >>

1. Its gonna be expensive.
2. Latency of 1 000ms - 12 000 if ur lucky...
3. Kiss it goodbye during a storm.
4. Landing points most probably going to be in SA so ull still have to battle and gain extra latency to get out international.

Thank you for the replies

I know the satelite connections is very slow and crappish, but the CEO of our company wants to connect via Sat to the rest of our buiding sites. I personally think ADSL will do the trick.

The CEO here reckons it wont cost anything per month, but as far as Im concerned, those type of connections costs even more than ADSL

But if you guys can still keep me posted if you know something (or something similar) to what Im looking for

Thanx
