Satellite

Just your standard C-band dish. You can't pick up DSTV & TopTV as they are in the Ku-band and 1/4 wavelength is less than the spacings of the mesh.

@Sigma
I have the same dish with a decoder at home where I used to catch all the Free to Air channels from Dubai, Egypt which had some really nice English Movie and Sport channels, which were eventually scrambled, I bought another decoder called StarTrak from some Guys in JHB to catch all the Indian and Pakistani and religious channel s, but trust me it is waste of good money

It is like watching SABC only 1000x worst , I dont undersatnd a word they saying and the only have news channels and junk

I have unplugged the decoder , need to get rid of the dish which is a real pain

Thanks for pointing out the difference, didn't mean to come across offended.

So here's a pic of the writing on it, and also the bracket holding it.

What you guys think?

That is not an expensive dish and has no motor. Depending on where it is aimed (see http://www.netlife.co.za/television...ites-in-south-africa-for-free-tv-c-band-.html) you can pick up many channels, but unless you can understand Arabic, its a waste of money. Plus, it looks a bit rusted and might disintegrate if you try and move it. You'll need a sat meter to align it if you move it. The spread is only 1/4 degree for most of these satellites

Thanks a lot everyone, going to just leave it up there.

Going to be too much effort to get it down to just throw away.

Uh oh......looks like a piece that came off the Decepticon spaceship
