A Telkom bakkie was just involved in a fender bender outside my office. Coincidentally I was waiting in hold-hell for them to answer and please explain what happened to the promised residential ADSL installation of last week.

One seriously p!ssed off guy drove into the back of one. I can say with certainty that he is a bit angry because from 3 stories up and about 100 meters away I can hear exactly what he is telling the other driver.

Sitting here - listening to the hold voice telling me to please be patient in a tone that invokes images of Prozac swilling desperate housewives - I all of a sudden feel calm, cool and at peace with the world.

Oh look, he just hit the Telkom guy.

Damn, could have put them on slide show to keep me entertained the next time I'm on hold. :p

Now thats entertainment :D !!! Can you believe thanks to Telkom the international company I work for had absolutely no internet access the whole day. And the wan was configured such that we had no access to our servers for e-mail and fileservers etc.

So a whole day wasted thanks to Telkom :(

I'm starting to get the full Telkom experience.
Service until now was good. The application went through without a hitch on the 2'nd. My company is paying for the modem and line, but I later found out the modem must them be a Telkom supplied model. Arrgh! Marconi!
I ordered it extra, but was told that adding a order onto the application so close to installation was a bit difficult to process. The service desk suggested I just pick one up from a Telkom store and bill it to my account.
They also informed me that the technical staff would contact me in 48 hours to schedule a appointment. that was last Tuesday.
The sales people at Telkom Retail in Fourways were waiting for a delivery of modems, but they sourced me one from another store that had stock.
Thursday morning the technician phoned me for the appointment. My wife is at home on maternity leave so I told him that there would be someone at home on both Thursday and Friday.
That was the last I heard from them.
When I finally got through today to report the missed appointment the operator was very helpful and apologetic. That was the ADSL installation operator.
The service desk operator just phoned me saying that they do not have my home adress(?) and that as far as they can see nothing needs to be done because my phone line is working. After politely explaing to him that I needed a ADSL installation and wondering aloud how 4 technicians have found my house in the past he promised to call me back with a appointment date.

Success.
I got tired of waiting for the technician. I phoned in and changed to a self install option. It turns out they've kept me waiting for 2 weeks just for a dufus to come and plug my modem in and set up my ADSL.
15 minutes of work and I am online.
