Satrix - people still using them?

Although it is brand new, have a look at GT247 who have launched a platform called easyequitys. They have zero monthly fees and the brokerage fee is only 0.25% plus all the compulsory fees. I think the platform officially opens at the end of August and they are currently running a simulated exchange to test the platform. You can buy Satrix shares and avoid the annual fee.

I registered on that...losing so much "money" at the moment I have no hope of winning :p

If I was going to buy Satrix I'd go through EasyEquities, just so much easier than Satrix itself imho.

I was trying to get to their site to check them out, so googled them, naturally, to get the address. Then I saw the second hit on google and entered: http://hellopeter.com/gt247-com/compliments-and-complaints

For a company that's only starting now, they're starting the wrong way.

So every time the debit order goes off and is transferred into the Share Saver account, I will manually have to buy new shares? And then every time a dividend is paid into my cheque account, I'll have to manually transfer it back into the Share Saver account?

Surely there is a way to automate this so that it can grow passively over time, without any input from me?
The dividend gets paid into the Share Saver account. Every time the monthly transfer goes through it does auto-buy, but again you can only buy whole units; there will always be a remainder of money left.

This remainder (+ dividends) never gets touched by FNB and you have to initiate a manual buy.

Have an FNB share builder account, and had a Satrix account. Moved most my funds away to an Allan Gray unit trust account (mix of Allan Gray and other unit trusts).

I've found their service, and the flexibility of options available on their web platform to be far superior.

They have been around for quite some time, I see those complaints are quite recent though. That being said I've already joined and the process was painless. Literally the most simple ever, copied in my ID book and uploaded my PDF bank statement. Loaded credit card details and boom money in my account and FICA done.

Doubt I'll ever use a trading site that looks like a Game pamphlet...

When it comes to money/finance/trust I prefer the big, established players.

Gt247 has been around for a long time. I remember my friend still talking about it in uni and that was 7 years ago

I have had Satrix since 2006. My money has tripled since I invested so I am a happy customer. Its a long term investment thing. Most people want money quick but with Satrix you invest and just leave it there to grow for a few years. I consider my Satrix investment my future pension. No cat food for me. Lol!

How's the DIVI doing? Looking for a good div-yielding ETF to push some money in.

What's the point, their online registration is shattered. And I'm not going through the hassle of doing things manually, as it is they want documents showing your whole life story. Happy with my FNB Share Saver for now, and will go with someone else when I need to diversify...

I have to admit, I am pleasantly surprised with that product [FNB Share Saver]. Opened it up a couple of months ago, and it really works well to just shove some money into to forget about.

True that. If EasyEquities turns out to be a solid platform you can buy SATRIX through them. Way less hassle.

Have spent the morning reading over all of this and have to say big thanks to all you guys that have contributed toward this, it has been a tremendous help!

If someone has to pick one of the Satrix etfs atm which one would you recommend?
Long term, 18+ years.
