Showy and brutal... but brutality sends a message. "We understand your language, and we can speak it too. We're not afraid of you, because we can do the same."

I'm not sure I understand what you mean: "We understand your language, and we can speak it too. We're not afraid of you, because we can do the same."

Adultery, drug smuggling? They may be illegal, but they're certainly not brutal.

Bring back public caning for minor offences. (or some other middle age public shaming medium) It will empty the jails. Just think of sitting in a cage of shame with an orange jail bird uniform at a shopping mall where all you buddies can see you for being drunk in public :)

People will think twice before speeding recklessly after seeing an idiot properly caned in public for driving 180km/h.

Public castration of rapists (without sedation or painkillers) will also save a few women the terror of rape - unfortunately not all.
You Barbarian! :p

True, those offenses aren't brutal. That's the problem with balancing sentences, especially when religion gets involved. For violent crimes though, or any crime which violates the rights of another, criminals should have a visible example that their rights will be violated in turn.

i could live with 35 beheadings a year....it would be great if sa could get to crime figures of only...35 rapes/murders/etc. a year.

i think we triple the offences in a day.

even though i'm against the death penalty...does make one wonder

i think this is a really good way of getting things done

seriously think about it:

a guy gets convicted of raping a 2 yrs girl because it will cure his aids

chop dead

how many ppl will do this again?

[slight exaggeration on]Yeah, but they only have two instances in a year and we have thousands of murders and thousands of drug related deaths and thousands of road deaths and thousands of children abused and thous..... You get the picture.[/slight exaggeration off]
Then let's head down to the SAB head office and start chopping off heads. I'll get my axe.

I think most people would admit Saudi Arabia is a very low crime area, whether you accept their methods or not.

big difference between the death penalty and burying someone up to their neck, and then stoning them to death...

i feel sick just thinking about it..

Well, hopefully it has to be clearly proven, not some he-said/she-said thing...
