Saving on Bandwidth

Ditto the above.

But remember to switch off "link prefetching" in fasterfox.

I have Adblock+ and Adblock.FiltersetG. Updater installed. Works like a charm...

To get around the flash problem install the extension Flashblock. Then on websites you want to see flash graphics you simply click a play button.

Download the Firefox browser from:
http://en-us.start.mozilla.com/firefox

Install these addons:
Adblock+ <-- blocks ads, allows you to block extra ads not in the filter
Adblock.FiltersetG. Updater <-- updates your filter list, keeps your customizations.
NoScript <-- blocks javascripts, which contains ads, takes some time to allow all the sites you wants, but blocks ads and big java downloads.
ImgLikeOpera <-- allows you to block all images or load only cached images, on individual sites. It saves allot of bandwidth.

Install a proxy:
Only read:
http://www.reaper-x.com/2006/07/18/...d-configuring-squid-proxy-server-for-windows/
This is my installation on a windows machine, which I zipped, it is ready for use:
ftp://ftp.uunet.co.za/pub/incoming/iwan/squid.zip

The following policy might be better, open squid.conf with wordpad to edit:
refresh_pattern . 2520 90% 5040 reload-into-ims ignore-no-cache ignore-private ignore-auth

On my Linux machine I use bannerfilter, and a firewall ruleset to block more ads. I precache everything I can using log analysis before I get capped on the last day.

This last day effort it important in another way.
DownLoadThemAll is another Firefox extension, not only does it mass select and que files, but supports multiple threads. During the month I run up a que and at the end before I get capped I download up to 3G in one day, usually I get 6G international a month.

Who is your ISP? You could add another gig for R60 per month from Axxess, or pre-pay from WebAfrica at R70 per gig.
