I'm new here and I'd like to find a thread with tips on how to save on bandwidth?
I just cannot make the month without running out!

Reduce the following :
1) Video Streaming
2) Audio Streaming
3) Downloading
4) Online gaming (some games don't abuse bandwidth though)

I feel tour pain I'm on a 6gig account and I cant make it to the end either, got capped today but luckily I have a prepaid 1 gig account with webafrica

I would like to add one more to your list: Using the Internet! :(

Thanks for the tips but I don't do ANY of the above. By the way, I only have 1Gig per month as that's all I can afford!
I don't receive or send emails with huge attachments, I hardly ever chat on MSN, and I don't download a lot of stuff.
I'm a member of ONE forum only (now two) so I really don't use the net a lot. Is this possible!

Get Web Africa 10gig local for R70.

Just realised this won't be of any help as most of my sites aren't local - only banking.

Thanks for your help but looks like I'm stuck. Like I said, I don't play games or download programs etc. I use it only for emails and to read the posts on the forum I belong to and occasionaly to look at other sites. I've even stopped chatting on MSN altogether!
I give up - may as well just go back to dail-up.....lol!
I thought about getting 3G but there's no coverage in my area.

1 GB prepaid together with route sentry might help a little, not much.

Probably not necessary to say, but also make sure its not a virus gobbling up bandwidth.

Definately no virus - I have checked it out. I use about 20Mb per day. Is it possible that reading my forum once a day can use that much? I receive very little emails so it can't be that either.

Use the IS news server to download programs, games, movies, shows.

1GB really isn't a lot - I burn up over 2GB per month on browsing and e-mail alone.
Two hours of browsing and there goes 50-100MB.

Flash websites really eat up bandwidth and are becoming more and more common now days so it's time the minimum cap be revised to at least 5GB.

You're defanatly going to use at least 20MB per. I do 60 browsing!

Thanks so much for help - at least now I know it is possible! Oh well, guess I'll have to skip surfing everyday!

Thanks for all your help - at least now I know it's possible by just checking out one forum.
Guess I'll have to just skip some days surfing!

Surely u can try disable the displays of pictures and flashfiles in your browser...that would save lots of bandwidth...becoz i noteced on those forums with avatar(however u spell it), ppl tend to use 500kb+ gif files or something. And when u do wanna view a pic, just right click and click display pic...I do that when i'm on prepaid GPRS on vodacom...though doesnt always work :P
