Hi All...

I have been asked by a friend if I can find anything about SAWireless. I can only find stuff here on the forum dating way back to 2013. Most of it bad to horrific.

Does anyone still use them, and if so, whats their service and support like. Are they supplying the speeds they claim they can provide?

I'm currently using a 2 Meg connection through D&D Networks (WISP) in the South of JHB, and they are basically decent, but not what I want.

I'm paying R725 for the 2 Meg connection. For a little less (R684) at SAWireless, I could get a 6 Meg connection.

I'm just worried of jumping out of the frying pan into the fire so to speak.

I suggest going to the WAPA website and only using their members, who adhere to a code of conduct

The site also has a click button where you request coverage and type in location, and then different WISPs approach you

Hi quincarroll

Why don’t you talk to Joe the owner, and see if he can’t organise a test for a week.

No complaints whatsoever,

Joe at SA Wireless = no call backs and empty promises

I agree with Thestealth. I have spoken to Joe three times. Every time he says he will phone back. Only reason why I haven't gone with another provider yet is.

1. Price
2. The contract they bound you too.

DataMagic / Myvoip Wireless

Except that myvoipwireless and datamagic are the same company. And they both use SAWireless' network.

Hi Guys,

I'm new on the forum. Just to place on record. DataMagic and MyVoip are seperate companies. Datamagic provides services on the MyVoip Network. MyVoip is an IECNS and IECS licensed operator. We are not part of SA Wireless, we own and operate our our network. Please feel free to contact me directly for any further information.

Thanks

Mo.

Except that everything about MyVoip and DataMagic are identical. Website, hosting provider, registration details.

And the Mac addresses for the myvoip SSIDs I've see are the same as the sawireless SSIDs. On the same towers, same antennas.

Someone's telling porkies. Not a very good start if you're supposed to be representing your company.

MyVoip and Datamagic are owned by the same shareholders. Datamagic has a different purpose in the market. I purchased the old SA Wireless network infrastructure together with the highsites and therefore it seems the same to you. You have obviously dealt with or are involved with SA Wireless in some way. We have fixed all the issues on the infrastructure that we have purchased. We are not a part of nor will be a part of SA Wireless. If you would like some more information please feel free to contact me at anytime and I will oblidge you with a meeting but please refrain from associating MyVoip or Datamagic with SA Wireless. It might also be in your interest to meet with me and to personally check my credentials before you attack my company any further. We have purchased their infrastructure but are not associated with SA Wireless in any way. I reiterate that we are a licensed provider and reserve the right to pursue legal recourse should we be associated with SA Wireless as it is damaging to our name.

2nd post and we're on to legal threats. Nice!
Completely baseless, of course, considering I'm just stating facts that are easily verifiable.

It's always good to have company representatives interacting directly with customers and potential customers, but you should keep in mind that this is a public forum and your attitude towards the members of the community can affect their attitude towards your company.

Anyway, thanks for explaining things. You'll find this community likes to know details.

Disclaimer: My dealings directly with sawireless were brief and a very long time ago. Dealing with them (and any WISP) indirectly through the operation of JAWUG however, is ongoing.

Thanks for clearing up your position on this Daffy. Apologies if you thought I was being hostile. I understand your position on this. We are looking to be here for the long haul and want to provide the best possible service and wanted to clear any misconceptions about our relationship with SA Wireless. We hope to interact with you and JAWUG in the future and hope that all our dealings with you and others on this community remain positive. As a provider we will strive to always provide a top quality service and hope to remain in good standing with our clients and this community.

Is there anyone here that is using sawireless, I am moving to Henley on klip and their pricing is good but the feedback here about them seems spotty. There is also a speedtest posted showing neotel being the ISP. I am not a neotel fan. Its a bitter pill I swallowed a long time ago.

Hi Karele
I olso live in walker fruit farms and I use Myvoip-Datamagic, as I got one of there hi sites on my tower that will cover henly on klip area and meyerton .Feel free and give them a call. (all to line of site)

Hi geazer thanks for the feedback, yup they are one of the providers I contacted just waiting now to hear if they will be suitable, they are a bit more pricey than sawireless but then so far the initial tests have been done, the quote sent and now waiting to hear if they will do the line of site all from myvoip, from sawireless all I have received so far are excuses why my request has not been processed and nothing else. Joe sounds like a nice guy but I am on a strict deadline we basically have a month to get everything sorted. This was not a planned move but still a welcome one.

I am basically in the boat that whoever comes out and sorts me out at a reasonable price will be getting my cash. As long as I can stream in the evenings and over weekends all will be good in the world.

I see that, just like SA Wireless, you quote your prices excluding VAT.
What's the reasoning behind that decision?
Most companies show prices inclusive of VAT.
And are you registered for VAT?

Yes, we are VAT registered. Our prices are shown exclusive of VAT, but we are in the process of updating the site to show prices inclusive.

Well we agreed(both sawireless and myself) that I will not be making use of their services. Lets just say that I offended them in this topic by stating that I have received nothing but excuses, I need to add in their defense that I did receive a verbal quote on Thursday afternoon when I called them which was after posting the offending response but not the written quote as I was told I would.

There is not clear coverage so they need to double up on equipment, I will be looking at double the install cost and I can only assume that they may consider that I am not the type of customer they want that may tarnish them on public forums if I am not happy with the service I receive judging by the response.

To get back on topic and respond to the OP, in my opinion if you are willing to wait for a period time to get a quote that suits their very busy schedule and go by what has been posted here about speeds by users with a handful of posts and also be willing to not post negative posts on mybb about your experience with them then they may be the service provider for you.
