SBF willing to testify before US lawmakers

Sam Bankman-Fried says he will testify before the House Financial Services Committee after he’s finished “learning and reviewing” the events that led to the implosion of FTX.

Representative Maxine Waters, the committee’s chair, last week invited Bankman-Fried to join the panel’s Dec. 13 hearing on his crypto exchange’s collapse.

So on one hand he says he will testify after reviewing and learning everything that transpired. And on the other, he mentioned in multiple interviews last week that at this stage, all his comments or answers are based on his recollections and the little info he has on hand because he has no access to the data at FTX as he is no longer running the company. This feels like an acceptance to testify on the surface, but he is actually saying "good luck waiting"...

He has the House Financial Services Commitee chairperson, Maxine Waters in his pocket already. That's his only angle here. Plus Maxine is in her mid-80's, so has zero clue about anything technical that's crypto related. If they go light on him it sets a precedent...

SBF previously donated money to nine House Financial Services Committee members, so they're all best mates.

Surely at this point they know they can still gun for him without losing any credibility or future income.

Will he step on US soil? I am certain that SBF has political protection, but he is a marked man by the US authorities.

That's not how it works in the USA, but I do hope I'm wrong and he goes to prison. He and his family are too well connected. His parents are fanatical democrats who work closely with law makers as they are both Professor's specialising in tax and compliance law. His mother runs a popular democrat donar group that get's millions for Biden and his buddies, and Sam has also donated something like $10 million helping Biden get elected.

SBF also mentioned in one the interviews that he has donated the same amount to the republicans, so he has connections on both sides, but I don't think he will go testify in the US unless he is extradited though, his excuse will be that he doesn't have access to ftx data, and it won't be helpful for him to testify until he go through such data to have an overall picture of what happened.

With that said, after wiping the floor with millions of clients worldwide, I actually think it might be safer for him to be under US custody, there is good odds that there is someone looking for revenge...

More lies. He also said that all his Republican donations were "dark", done under the table which can't be easily verified.

Says it all - he’s going down for this. Only a matter of time.

1000 x this

being willing to testify before people you own / people who owe you / people who will go down with you is not exactly honourable or risky

Basically it doesn't look like he will testify on the 13th, he will testify "eventually".
