Back in 2015 I purchased a 1:350 scale model of both The Tirpitz & The Bismarck. The Tirpitz has been built but the Bismarck is still waiting to be assembled. Was such fun building it and the detail was beautiful (well, it's a Tamiya; what do you expect...). The AA guns were made up of two pieces and when glued together, were about the size of a matchstick head.

Should look to crack on with The Bismarck soon I think.
EDIT: As you can see, I don't have the steadiest painting hand, haha.

This is where I relate a bit of history. For the Bismarck's construction, a 1:50 scale model was made at the Builders Blohm+Voss in Hamburg, Germany. When the allies took possession of the shipyard, the model had been bricked up into a wall to hide it. It remained there till 2000 when it was revealed. I saw it in the main building of the Blohm+Voss shipyard which is still building and repairing ships.
The Billionaire Peter Tamm had his own private maritime museum in a three story mansion on Elbechausee and I was fortunate to be allowed a visit as it was by appointment only. A fantastic collection of anything maritime and military from the staffs of Field Marshalls to sailors kit worn on HMS Victory and even paintings.
Peter Tamm was instrumental in founding the Hamburg Maritime Museum which is open to the public and where the Bismarck model now has a home.
Some pics of the 1:50 model of the Bismarck:

That must be a pretty awesome kit...Very true, just the space to display them. I have a 1:32 B17-G waiting, but the wingspan is 1m.
The Bismarck is such a popular kit; I've built one before (as well as the HMS Belfast).WW2 1:350 ships is my thing.
My sister's boys destroyed three of them, playing on the floot and throwing marbles as cannon shot.
Bismarck, Tirpitz, Missouri and Yamato had a go and all got sunk....
Tamiya's bismark is popular, Tirpitz less so, the ship was more important than Bismarck, but did not see action. The Bismarck is such a popular kit; I've built one before (as well as the HMS Belfast).
Yup. Tamiya's kits are generally outstanding, but not cheap!Tamiya's bismark is popular, Tirpitz less so, the ship was more important than Bismarck, but did not see action.
Their flagship at the moment is the Yamato. They have the etching additional parts included, so th emodel is really top notch at the moment. Not an important ship in the war, but there you go. It is an impressive one though.

I have the Tamiya 1:350 Bismarck on my shelf, just waiting for the detail upgrade kit. Besides that, I also have a Trumpeter 1:200 Hood to get done (will take me about a year to build that). The Bismarck is such a popular kit; I've built one before (as well as the HMS Belfast).
I have a picture of me sitting on the Captain's chair on the bridge, many many years ago.I have visited the real HMS Belfast which is now a museum ship permanently docked in the Pool of London near Tower Bridge:

Same, really enjoyed the visit. Visiting the Hood is much harder...I have visited the real HMS Belfast which is now a museum ship permanently docked in the Pool of London near Tower Bridge:

That'll be a big one, I reckon!I have the Tamiya 1:350 Bismarck on my shelf, just waiting for the detail upgrade kit. Besides that, I also have a Trumpeter 1:200 Hood to get done (will take me about a year to build that).
You can salvage that, just climb in and build.Had a few kits growing up, always got one for Christmas, mostly planes (Spitfires). Current stalled projects decided to go all out, get the proper paints and everything. Didn't fininsh and now just gathering dust. Morris Mini Cooper Racing and Yamaha R1.
