Man (or woman or a what), Coca Cola got me today good.

Having breakfast, as one tends to have at Mugg and Bean and saw that the Checkers was quietish so decided what the heck let me pop in and see what Black Friday specials they have.

So picked up a few things and see like a mountain of 2.25l cokes they offloading for only R13.00 each, so I ask the dude whats the limit per customer and he goes nah no limit so I buy a **** load.

Now I don't drink coke but I thought it would be cool to give away as I give my couriers and other peoples some goodies and monies this time of the year.

Anyhow I get home and my son goes what's with all this coke zero, nobody like really likes that **** and I go, erm nope, its normal coke, except the bastards at coke changed the labeling and bottle cap, so coke zero almost looks like the real thing:mad:

So this is what coke zero usedto look like, black cap and black label, can't really miss it:

And this is what the bastards at coca cola changed to:

Notice the change of cap colour, not the black they have been marketing for years and the label change to the standard classic coke red colour.
Yeah if you not shopping in a hurry you may notice the black band on top of the red that says zero sugar, but tbh completely missed that as I was shopping based on colour of the bottle.

Man you got me coke.

Anyhow tldr, coca cola changed colours, people getting coke zero for christmas :)

Fsck I’ve been looking everywhere for Coke Zero. I thought my local stopped carrying it.

I got nailed by this too.. I'm really fscked off with coke about it.. The differentiating branding is almost invisible now..

Yeah, me too. Luckily I only got one bottle. Whatever they use for sweetener stays in my saliva for far too long. Hate the stuff. Worse, it metabolizes into a carcinogen so what's the point, anyway? Sugar kills, aspartame kills.

Serves us right for being addicted to sugar water I guess.

ROFL ... oh this is priceless :D Probably related to the sugar tax. Real coke is way too expensive, so they've had to try con people into getting Coke Zero and then thinking "Hey, I can actually drink this stuff".
I do not care for the price of the real thing. All other derivatives of Coke are pure swill.

If I need to, I only drink coke lite or Tab. My brother in-law was caught out like this. He swore to me(after quite a few brandies and coke), that he only drinks normal coke, until I pointed to his bottles. Fark, was he pissed.....and surprised.

Almost look like knockoff coke zero, is this Checkers branded CokeZero perhaps? :p

I know this is blasphemy but I can't drink more than half a glass of regular coke before I want to vomit, too much sugar. I prefer Coke Zero, actually like the taste and can drink a whole 2L without much effort. :)

I never ever eat Takeaway food (at most once every 3yrs) and anyways about a month ago I went to work on a Saturday and had a babalas and eventually ended up at Steers down the road for a lunch to fix this. Ordered my meal as per the menu on the tv's above and was shocked to see my bill was R79 for the meal instead of the R78 as displayed. I didnt want to make a scene in a full place so went back to work armed with my photo of the menu and my till slip and ready to go onto the internet and shame Steers on every public forum everywhere.

Very quickly of been on the internet I learnt that there is a R1.00 sugar tax on all drinks  I put my mouse down, pushed my keyboard forward, took a deep breath and just chilled as I devoured a very good takeaway with my Fanta Orange and a lesson I have learnt.

Haha same thing with mcdonalds and why they include the Coke Zero in the listing price. The moment you add any other non sugarfree drink they slap extra R2 if I recall correctly.

Exactly - Bastards  For me on my standard meal it was R1 extra for the tin of Fanta Orange.
And nowhere was that displayed, I stared at those 3 tv screens for 20 minutes waiting for my order to arrive. It was only later on the internet menu i saw they charge extra because of sugar tax

But once they put it in their mouths they gonna know it's not original coke, it's gonna taste extra sweet.

Aah yes, not many sentences start with "But once they put it in their mouths...", and those that do usually don't end with "it's gonna taste extra sweet."

They also have Stoney Zero and the Sprite counts as no sugar too, the Spite has the bad after-taste of Coke Light.
