Watching it on CNN at the moment, I really don't understand why the US doesn't just say STFU to the NRA and introduce strict gun control policies
The NRA should gtfo but it's not quite that simple. The vast majority of gun deaths are caused by ordinary handguns which no one will ever ban. There are some common sense gun control policies that should be implemented, though.

Yeah NRA is pretty strange. But what's nice is that the US enjoys pluralism and views can be expressed, although left wing PC nuts are slowly eroding that.

Have you seen the amount of glassing and stabbings in the UK? Restricting firearms isn't the answer.

Why people not worry about the innocent bystanders shot by gang bangers in the US?
I recommend watching the HOOD LIFE videos on YT. And why haven't those people been chastised by the media?
It's definitely not the answer, outlaw guns and only outlaws will have them, they need to be heavily regulated and hard to come across to children and teens, I'd assume in most of these cases the guns aren't locked up in a safe and are easily acquired by the shooters

US and UK are different. UK is an island and relatively easy to police. It's nearest neighbours are also pretty anti-gun ownership. Border restrictions are tight. It's also a small island with a relatively small population and easy to police.
US is huge. It has a porous border with Mexico which allows gun and drug smuggling. It has a huge coast. Is is a huge country with vast areas which can be remote and difficult to police. Gun ownership is entrenched in history, culture and constitution. Gun ownership is also very high with millions owning more than one weapon. It would be impossible to confiscate these weapons, even if that passed the various courts and legislatures. And even if these could be confiscated the criminals would have the same access to them they have now because of the points above. In addition guns could be manufactured whether through 3D printing or more traditional metalworking means.
I don't know if gun safes are the answer either. Any kid half determined to get access to a gun, even if in a safe, and you have to teach your teenage child to use a gun, otherwise you reserve that important right of self defense to yourself only, and let your child be a victim when you're not there, will get a gun. If people are so determined that they will sacrifice their futures, lives and other people for whatever cause or reason they have, they will find that key to that safe and get that gun.
The gun safe thing works against very small children. It also works against people who may do something immediately on a very immediate impulse. But many of these school shootings are not impulsive split second 180 degree decisions but instead premeditated plans which were implemented with attention to detail over considerable time. Such people would get access to guns even if these were locked away in safes.
In addition restricting guns too much, even if not outright banning, will also lead to a black market. Angry teens would be able to source black market weapons. If they can find grass and coke, they'll be able to source firearms.

US SCHOOL SHOOTER INVITED VICTIMS INTO CAFETERIA BEFORE KILLING THEM

The high school student who killed two and critically injured three students before turning the gun on himself last week at a school in Washington state invited his victims to the cafeteria before shooting them, police said Monday.
Detectives have been able to confirm that the shooter arranged for a meeting of friends during lunch in the cafeteria, the Snohomish County Sheriff's offices said on their website. He invited his victims to join him at lunch by sending them a text, the sheriff's office confirmed.
The five victims were seated at the table when the shooter opened fire at Marysville Pilchuck High School, shooting them in the head, officials said.
The gunman used a handgun, a .40-calibre Berretta, which was purchased legally and registered by a family member of the shooter, authorities said.
One student, Zoe Galasso, 14, died immediately at the scene. Student Gia Soriano, also 14, died at a hospital on Sunday.
"Gia is our beautiful daughter and words cannot express how much we will miss her," Soriano's parents said in statement posted on the hospital's website.
Student Shaylee Chuckulnaskit was still listed in critical condition at the hospital.
Two other victims were identified as 15-year-old as Andrew Fryberg and Nate Hatch, 14, both said to be cousins of the gunman, were being treated in intensive care at a different hospital in Seattle. Andrew Fryberg was listed in critical condition while Nate Hatch's condition had slightly improved, the Seattle Times reported.
The shooter was identified in local media as 14-year-old Jaylen Fryberg, a ninth-grade student. He was described as a "good kid" who was named homecoming prince to represent the freshmen class and was on the school's football team, students told reporters.
Police could had not determined a motive for the attack.

A fourth teen victim died Friday, two weeks after being gunned down by a fellow high school student who went on a shooting rampage in Washington state, hospital officials said.
"Unfortunately, Andrew Fryberg, 15, passed away this evening," Harborview Medical Center in Seattle said.
The three other victims were all girls, one of whom died on the spot and two of whom died in hospital over the past two weeks.
The teen widely identified as the shooter, Jaylen Fryberg -- reportedly a cousin of Andrew Fryberg -- also turned the gun on himself during the spree.
In a brief statement Andrew Fryberg's family expressed gratitude "for the amazing support from the community, as well as from everyone around the world."
"Our family is overwhelmed with the love and care that has been provided to our loved one during this time and you all will forever hold a special place in our hearts," they said.

I think you'll find that it's not ordinary Americans doing the dictating. The people there are now war weary. In fact they told Obama they did not want a war in Syria and the Nobel Laureate had to back down. Don't blame ordinary folks for government policies.

No. The govt guys will be connected Ivy League grads or high ranking union connected guys. In some cases very rich guys like Reagan, Ventura and Arnold.

I don't know of any US Congressmen or senators who graduated from Columbine.
Besides these shooters either kill themselves, get killed or end up with criminal records so can't hold public office. And counter to you point, as guns are so easily available in the US, those people who don't go on shooting sprees are probably more safe and less gung ho trigger happy than those who are legislated against gun ownership like the majority of Europeans. After all, despite the trade fairs where one can buy assault rifles without permits, cheap weapons and ammo and easy permits, these people don't tend to settle their scores with guns. I think we'll be OK.
