Seven-time Formula One champion Michael Schumacher is making a comeback for Ferrari to replace injured driver Felipe Massa.

Ferrari said on Wednesday in a statement that the German had agreed to get back in the cockpit until Massa is fit to return.

Schumacher said: "Though it is true that the Formula One chapter has long been closed for me, it is also true that for team loyalty reasons I cannot ignore that unfortunate situation."

...and he was denying it a few days ago! ;)

I think I might just have to watch Formula 1 again. Go Schumi, show these kids how to drive a car!

Great stuff. I suspect he's going to be shown up, but will be a spectacle nonetheless. The other drivers have a point to prove now - there will be no love lost on track...

Yeah, unfortunately he got the Ferrari to the point where it was almost unbeatable when he was with the team but they have slid since then.... it will take time for him to get them back and part of a season is not enough I fear.

Next race is only late in August. He has more than enough time to prepare. I'm also pretty sure he was invloved in a lot of testing so he should still be sharp.
I doubt if he will cause major upsets but will be interesting nonetheless.

I doubt this is altogether true. He's been working with Ferrari for this very reason since his retirement from racing itself. He's been assisting in fine tuning the car's performance. Sure, he's not racing against rivals on a weekly basis, but he's still driving the cars flat out...

Is he actually driving? I thought he was just "consulting"

Wow this is unbelievable. I didn't really think this would happen. Thought it was all hype. Should make F1 very interesting. Even though i'm a die-hard Massa fan while he recovers i'll be cheering on Shummi. ANything to knock that pommie off Podium. "PUsh the button" my ass!

Dreams can come true hey... was thinking it would be great to See Schumi again while watching F1 this weekend :D
