Scirroco is Here!!! :D

Is this VW's attempt at trying to be new age? It's terrible! Should have taken followed in Honda's footsteps. Type-R is space age and beautiful. Definitely a car of the future.

Yawn... the Type R is crap, never liked it at all, I want a car not a spaceship!:)

The car looks very awkward from the front, the interior is as exciting as I have seen on some older Mercs. From the rear it looks pretty good and I think that is what prospective buyers will like cause they will be under the impression that the rear is all other road users will see. Which is true cause that is how most people park.

Honda FTW! The new Civic (not only the Type-R) is a beautiful car which is likely to age very well. Considering when it was released (2006), it still looks new and fresh every time you see one. That's at least the impression I get every time I enter my garage... :p

Looking at the specs list, I couldn't help but notice the ridiculous "options" they list these days, like "Fully galvanised & laser welded body" and "Windscreen, tinted green" - WTF?! I'm probably supposed to go "Oh great! The car's panels have been welded together and I've got a WINDSCREEN!!! Yay!" upon reading their "impressive" specs sheet...

Yeah I'll also opt for the Honda if I have to chose between the two.

Hell, I'll even settle for a Getz CRDi instead of the Sixirroco (is it a Golf 6? no! is it a Scirroco, no! - its Sixirroco, the rat bastard!)

TBH, the Scirroco looks a lot better than the new "Six" coming out this year. That's not saying much, seeing as the Scirroco is ugly and dated. I think VW are trying to play it TOO safe and aren't progressing at all! Even then new Polo coming out later this year looks dated and boring. I love the comment made in CAR magazine a few months ago when they had an article on the Golf 6. They commented that the Golf 6 might be a good vehicle, but will the buying public even be able to recognize it on the showroom floor as a new Golf? :)

Well
First of all the Scirroco was designed before the MK6.
The standard version is maybe a bit bland for some, especially the front, it has alot of mixed reviews, but I see the Scirroco as a blank canvas, it will look awesome when modified far better than anything on the market!
The MK6 is very much like the MK5 not sure why VW played it SO safe with the new model... even the range topper is very weak overall to the outgoing MK5 and the competition.
But as for you comment on the Polo, you 360 degrees of your chair. Its a beautiful car, will do very well in SA and around the world!

Now you have to resort to modifying the car to make it look good, come now, thats so east rand.

The scirocco is very very sexy... btw i hate VW's but geez its pretty looks like a alfa Brera alot carbon copy, but thats a good thing.

I would buy this on looks alone btw i dont touchs VW with a wooden pole BUT and this is a biiig butt R300k!!! come on! couldnt they start at R200k at least? Take a Fiat Bravo 1.4(110kw tjet) turbo charged isnt that kinda in the same league as the 1.4 vw offers?
And that goes for what R190k?

COME ON VW geez do they consider themselfs premium brand now or what? BMW, Merc, Audi, VW??

Same thing happened to a certain motoring journalist who had to review a new 911... hehehehe !

But that is what I would expect from a Volkswagen. After all, they have the laziest desingers in the world. Whick makes sense since they are not stuggling too much even with the economic climate as it is. Guess they are cutting costs where they can.

New funky design? Nope - to expensive. New and more modern entry level car in South Africa, Nope - to expensive. More efficient engine development, mmm, nope lest just rely on the blue motoring initiative from Mercedes. Less scandelous sexcapeds in Brazil - hell no, thats going too far :p maybe lets just skimp on Golf 6 costs and keep those lovely Brazilians between the sheets.

Yes - save costs, sell more, fool the world, make profit :D Hitler would have been proud.

Its not a mini hatch so theres enough space inside and then theres also all the things it comes standard with, windscreens and laser welding... just kidding...
It has things like

ASR(Anti-Spin Regulation)
EDTC(Engine Drag Torque Control)
EDL(Electronic Differential Lock)
EBD(Electronic Brake-force Distribution)
ESP(Electronic Stability Programme) with driver steering recommendation, brake assist and EDL (Electronic Differential Lock)
Hill-hold Assist
Seat heating
Tow-away and tilt protection
Servotronic®, speed-sensitive power steering

While I also hate VW (a lot) and would rather have the Fiat anyday, it just aint fair to compare the two. The 1.4 VAG engine is a TSI, super charged and turbo charged. I have driven one of those in a Tiguan and it is really very impressive.

Sure it will break after 20 odd thousand k's just because it is a VW - but the 1.4 TSI is an amazing little machine (for as long as it runs smoothly).

Thats great and all but more than R100k more expensive for the base model?
