Screamer WiMax

We have 4 different riute sources of bandwidth to ensure redundancy and performance equalisation. As you probably heard at the beginning of this year SAIX had some technical issues which degraded all the ISP'S services who relied soley on them but our services continued to perform because of the supply alternatives.
2 are fibre, one is miocrowave and one is satellite. Our engineers monitor demand on our various routes and backbone and constantly make adjustments to the supply on those routes.

So when are you going to get your own IP allocation, so you can stop NATing people, or being listed as your upstream ISPs... ?

:)

I play Wow using a 1mbps Screamer connection & GameMax's proxy (www.gamemax.org). My latency is approx 280ms but can be as low as 250ms and as high as 350ms.

I am in the Bryanston area so your mileage may vary.

Cool thanks for that.
they just finished installing my Wimax Connection so just waiting to go home now.
and hopefully have a much better experiance than the one i have had with iburst.

Where are you located and have you tested the Wimax yet? How are you finding your service?

located in Fourways. Sofar pretty impressed. Just need to figure out a way to get it to connect via my Wireless ROuter ( it has a wan connection )

Did you go with screamer? Just making sure.

You set it up like a normal router with PPPoE connections. The IDU connects to the wan port and your pc/switch to the lan port... Should be fairly easy.

You went from investigation to installation in 2 days!

How did you get such a quick installation??

lol Faxed in my forms , phoned em to check if the got the application forms. then got a call saying dudes will be there the next day to install ^^

still having an issue tho with my router not connecting on it's ppoe connection stupid thing just sits there saying connecting... have a funny feeling it might not support connecting to an IDU...

I know they(Screamer) use VoIP gateways as a "router", but I would think it works the same way. You connect the IDU to the WAN port, the switch/pc to the lan port and then you just set up the gateway to use PPPoE connections with your Screamer Username and Password...

@ Playoff, yeah, that is one thing where Screamer really does shine. My installation was just as quick. :D

will prob try and call tech support tonight. while i am in-front of the device and see if can get it working hopefully

well got my router sorted out. Big up to the Guys from Screamer for getting a techie out to my place to help out.
much appreciated

It's a pleasure, enjoy the service.

Were there any problems on the screamer network ? was having horrible browsing speeds from about 10:00pm to about 12:36AM.

even playing wow was nasty...
thought it might have been my router but connecting Directly to the IDU had the same results.

hopefully what ever the problem ( if there was one will be sorted out )

A lightning strike on 2 of our major routes put starin on the others. Took us about 2 hrs to replace the damaged units. How is the performance now?

Checked it out sunday morning seems to be working great now. will let you know if any further problems.

also what is a the recommended MTU settings for routers connected to the the IDU ?
