Screamer WiMax

wow4life - Have you tested again? I will test later tonight and post my findings...

I saw little to no improvement over the weekend, my connection was actually worse than normal for some reason. Very high latency and huge packet loss.

Aparantly the maintenance of some of the towers was pushed out to this week due to the rain last week.

Hi Guys

The rain last week did play havoc with our tower maint schedule and the towers that we planned to have serviced by Monday afternoon will only be done by Wed afternoon.

Any news on this. Is it really just in certain sections or is everyone on the screamer network experiencing this. I want to sign up, but this is a real concern.

Only our clients in the Fourways and Bryanston area had a problem with occasional disconnects due to 2 faults working in tandem. Speed and latency were not affected and it was really only the gamers that noticed.

These 2 faults were however fixed yesterday.

i'll check as well tonight :) as was not playing last night...

I still get packet loss. You guys gonna post your findings?

Hi there Sharkbait

Could you please let me know if this packet loss is something that happens continously or sporadically?

Thanks

Been away for awhile but was online again last night. I still get packet loss but it seems to have improved to approx 0.5% (was approx 1% packet loss).

Loss is sporadic for me i.e. fine for awhile then several packet losses.

I did some testing last night and had a couple of disconnects, not sure if it was just the host I was connecting to.

I will do some more testing this evening.

Well 3 games of dota this evening from 8:30 to 11:30 and not 1 disconnect. Latency was good and rarely even lagged, looks like the problem may finally be fixed.

mine also seems to be ok. played wow for a while last night not a single disconnect. will check it again tonight.

Hi there wowforlife

Could you please run your ping tests to our speedtest site 172.17.0.10 so I can establish if you are getting 0.5% packet loss over our network or somewhere in the internet.

Thanks

the screamer invoice is the only one i receive with a smile on my face each month :D

the service has been truly amazing, thanks to howzit and the screamer team.

my latency in wow is stable everyday, and a disconnect few and far between.

Charl

Been pinging your DNS for awhile now - so the 0.5% loss is to that address. I know you made some changes yesterday (I got a call to warn me, which was nice) and it seemed a lot better until 5 minutes to midnight when it was really poor.

I will wait for the changes to stablise then run the tests again.

We will send out an engineer to check out your polarity.

We do sometmes do tweaking from midnight onwards but I will ask them to check on your connection before they do next time.

I just ran the same test.. from 13:00 to 13:14 and had 1% packet loss.

My connection has been tested several times by your engineers and they report a perfect signal. This is another issue and seemingly not limited to me.

However the situation is considerably better in the evenings - for example I just ran a ping test, whihc is damn good:
Ping statistics for 172.17.0.10:
Packets: Sent = 307, Received = 306, Lost = 1 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 40ms, Maximum = 76ms, Average = 52ms

Running this during the day or early evening would show a 1% loss.

Howzit, can you tell me whether you have interleaving enabled or not? I assume that this is set in the CPE but I don't know the IP to check it.
