I have a funny story to tell.

Recently, during the week, a got a call from someone at screamer. He wanted to ask me if my Internet was better since i posted some posts here.
I went to to explain that my internet had improved since i made the complaints.

I then told him that my internet was down in the morning before i left for work. He spoke to me as if that wasnt an issue and went on to say something along the lines of it being down didnt matter, he was just calling to see if it was better than when i complained.
Yes was my answer.

Experience being my best teacher here, i got a call from screamer...that normally means something bads about to happen.
That afternoon, i got home, and yayy ! I loged into wow, with 30k ms.
Decided to give it chance. Carried on for the entire night, and most of the next day.

Today is saturday, and still, i loged with 400 ms, and now, its so bad that i cant even do anything at all anymore....It spikes all the way up to 70k ms. An all time new record for wow spikes. Facebook is sinfully slow, its better to use my blackberry to browse. Speedtests are NOT going to show this, as it is like im loosing packets, not missing download/upload speeds.

Im trying to get a normal adsl line this week :( 4 mb unshaped nomnom gief
Really bad service right now, theres always some problem or another.

Well here is my strange story.
The past week have had a few issues, but my issues mainly last an hour or 2, then it is back again.

I've been playing or maybe I should say not been playing COD Black Ops due to the pings on the mweb server of 450+
This morning after trying again, most of the servers are below 100 !!!!! Yeah!!! now I can play again!!!! Hope it stays this way!!!!
 
Why does anyone even still post here. Man over 100 pages and they still get attention. On word - Cancel !!@!!!
 
Connection was down for bit but thanks to a quick response from Screamer everything is running smoothly again and Wow updates at almost 110KB/s.

Anyone else having upstream problems tonight. I cannot connect to WoW or Ventrillo.

Really bad service right now, theres always some problem or another.

At least you get some form of communication from them. I've phoned Screamer 4 times during this past month, still no reply from them. Always just some underpaid techie or operator with no clue as to whats going on, ready with the standard reply: "uhhh, eish, we don't know what is da problem, but we will look and call you back." They've looked. 4 times. Still waiting to be called back. Still waiting for internet that I'm paying for.

This is the worst service from any company I've encountered. ISP's are notorious for bad customer service, which is fine if the internet service they provide is great. But Screamer.....

Non-existent internet service + no communication as to why the service is down + ignoring all my communication attempts with them = THEFT.

If anybody is considering Screamer for any form of communication services, don't. Just... don't.
 
They switched the upstream provider from neotel to some other fail provider , now my latency to mweb users is crap, and just mweb , i wonder if its an mweb peering issues , cause tracerts show i go through london to get to mweb, And during the day i dont get consistent speeds since this new change of provider
 
Havoc Weekend - Screamer

Screamer been up and down since Friday, anyone having similar issues.

Called technical - said they will restore, looking into it, came up again Sat for short time, boom nothing Sun

My screamer went down on Friday (jhb east) during that huge storm. And its still down T_T
 
Had no internet from Friday till Monday late morning. No one answers their phones and when they do they cant tell you anything.Luckily I got a new provider doing an installation on the 12th of April. 16mbps (YES 16!!!!!!) uncapped and unshaped for R 1 200.00 pm and I get a 99% uptime guarantee. Its been good (well not really) but its time for me to move on. I just cannot work like this. Cheers to screamer. And i'm screaming of joy!!!!

I pay R1800 a month to Screamer and the connection is definitely not what it used to be. Also no speed increases ever. :mad:

1mbit just doesn't cut it anymore.

I've requested a speed increase numerous times telephonically and via email. There was apparently no capacity for an increase.

That is not really the point I was trying to make in my post however, my point was though that network wide there have been no speed increases. Internet in general in South Africa has enjoyed recent speed upgrades on DSL etc. as well as bandwidth cost reductions.

I realise we are not comparing apples with apples here but I do believe Screamer is making use of SEACOM but we have yet to really see any cost or speed benefit from this with Screamer. In fact to the contrary, since SEACOM things seem to have gotten worse.

Basically there doesn't seem to be an progression in terms of product, I would have been happy with an increase to 2mbit even. This still falls way short of DSL.

I easily overlooked this all in the past when considering I had uncapped unshaped for this amount, but the connection ( to my next point ) just isn't what it used to be in terms of stability and consistency.

I stream a lot of content on Youtube ( documentaries etc. ) and always had a consistent streaming experience. The past 2 months or so the connection hardly copes. Somedays it's great, then all of a sudden I just get timeouts, videos stall, videos dont load etc.

Overall the browsing experience is also not great, I experience the same as above.

Not sure what is going on, but it's becoming much harder to part with that R1800 every month.

Tried to upload a 450mb file to Youtube last night, no luck. Get's about 20% of the way and then dies. Tried 3 times.
