Lately everytime i exit a game (counterstrike) my screen freezes. Everything in the background carries on, but i can't do anything except if media player is open i can start, skip, etc. tracks through my multimedia keyboard. Is this the graphics card packing up? Hope not it is less than 6 months old.

The whole visible screen is frozen and nothing works. I can only work media player through the special buttons.

What do you see on screen PearlJam? Is it black, is the image frozen?

try hitting ctrl alt delete when this happens and see if there are any processes or applications that are "not responinding" kill it and see if it goes back to normal.

You haven't got Automatic Updates running at the time have you? They have been locking my PCs up lately.

ctrl alt delete doesn't work. it doesn't give that info popup over the icons, nothing. My update are all up to date and it has happened now about 5 times. When i restart it gets to the desktop then restarts itself and then tell me the system has recovered from a serious error. After i send the report it says it is a device driver but has no fix for it. I got the same error message on my previous machine and it was a faulty ram module, therefor i don't trust the driver message

Maybe

I have a kinda the same problem but when I exit a game the screen is black & you can do anything eg. ctl alt del

It happens when I am using a java application & java is running in the background, once the java is closed everything is 100s

Hope that helps ??

Try hitting WIN+R, type 'cmd' hit enter. Then hit ALT+ENTER.

You should get a full screen command prompt. Now type exit.

Does that restore your display?
