Hey guys..
I bought a DStv SD PVR from bidorbuy over the weekend. a total bargain, at R350, shipping included.
I was told that TV2 wasn't working, all well and good.
Decoder arrived today from Pretoria.
I just plugged it in as is to test it. Turns out TV1, and TV2 do work, and there seems to be nothing wrong with the actual unit. Both channels emit a picture. I was unable to get a picture via the AV out, which I am assuming is due to an incorrect setting, but in RF mode, the picture is nice and clear, at least the menus are. I was supplied a scan of the affidavit from the previous owner. However upon it completing the initial scan, (I still need to buy a twin LNB upgrade kit), but that shouldn't stop anything from not working. I got an xtraview message flashing up on the screen saying, searching for primary decoder, which leads me to believe that that was part of a previous xtraview setup. I cannot find a way to disable xtraview, as this is the only decoder there is with me, I am assuming that is something Multichoice will do.
Also, when I do enter the other channel, with TV2 is operating on (I need to change the channel, as it overlaps Cape Town TV here), I get a message saying TV2 disabled please contact customer services. I read it is to do with the smartcard, and since the decoder is cut off, that is probably it. Question, if I took the decoder into Multichoice, and had it changed it to my name, are they able to reset it to factory defaults, and all will work again?
Thanks
