Seagate 250gb not recognized in Vista

During a fresh install of Vista x64, Vista picks up my 250gb and 80gb but does not allow me to format the 250gb, only the 80. I've downloaded latest SATA/RAID drivers for Vista to recognize the drive... nothing. Any1 had this issue?
 
download the seagate diagnostic tool and test the drive. I doubt this is a vista problem.
 
I had a simlar issue myself, and (I admitantly don't know much about Raid so I was playing silly buggers here) the only way I could solve it was by setting the drive to JBOD on it's own (ie JUST the 250gig drive in this case) in my raid configuration.

Have no idea if this'll work for you or not but it's what did it for me and thought I might as well mention it.
 
How does it not allow you, what happens?

If all else fails, disconnect 80GB, format and install Vista on the 250 and reconnect the 80 after installation, when windows works,
 
I've tried that. The problem is Vista partially recognizes the 250GB during installation, but when I try and install the OS, I get a message saying this drive is not recognized :confused: At this point, there is an option that says "Load Driver", and I dwnloaded the latest sata/raid driver (on my notebook) from Gigabyte website. These drivers are purely for the OS to recognize one's drive during installation. I think it's the ICH9 SATAII driver, but Vista still says cannot install on this driver FFS :confused:
Strangely enough, the 80GB works like a dream, but I want the 250 as primary.
 
Did you actually try the Jbod trick? My problem was EXACTLY the same, but it's up to you if you want to try or ignore my suggestion in the end.
