If it's the Cape Town branch, expect some snotty-nosed punk who would lick managements rear to give you grief.

When I returned faulty Seagate HDD's to Rectron, they simply scan the HDD barcode, and hand you a repaired one, after you give a reason for the return of course. Usually a simple "It crashed and doesn't work anymore" will do.

I seriously doubt they will hand you any other drive WD or not, unless they do not have stock of the drive you return and they do not have analogues like a 7200.11 500gb.

Oh yeah, if you bought the drives less than 14 ? days ago, you can ask your money back minus the +/-10% handling fee.

I took back a crashed 200 gig that was 13 months old. They swapped it immediately with a 250 gig. (in joburg)

My 7200.11 was running fine for just over a year before it stopped booting. Now I have to switch it off (external) before I can boot. This happened to a friend of mine as well... his drive was 16 months old.

Mine 2 drives that i took got 3 months each.

when you take it back demand a .12 seagate or take the credit and order a .12 drive.

I had an out-of-box failed 7200.12 1TB drive the other day. Made clicking noises, vibrated, and was only visible sometimes. Took it back to Rectron, they plugged it in, powered it up, and swapped it out.

Had a ST3500320AS HDD got it replaced for a ST3500418AS - no problems after that.

Nah, the guys at Rectron are pretty good. They just test the HDD first to make sure there is a fault and give you a repalcement over the counter.

Flash the firmware.
