I was raging because that happens to me so much, i.e. someone 'correcting' me or starting an argument when all I do is answer a straightforward question with a fact.

lol now that is over pedantic haha but granted it can fall into that category. Suppose it comes down to the English language and how words change meaning over time. Since most people associate PC with a desktop. Yet PC is regarded a computer based on a microprocessor, designed to be used by one person at a time. My smart phone kinda falls into this category?
Then extend definitions to specify that it must have an Intel processor and use windows... So not all laptops or desktops are PCs.. Sorry AMD and linux users
