I'd have asked for a refund and found someplace else to stay before this happened... But seriously... Painting!? I'd have been straight out of there.
 
Web site makes it look like a nice place. I note several pics have those same two dogs in them.
 
in fact she has just shy of 10 dogs on the premises.

I'm sure it's a few shy of 10 but still, they need to be picked up after.
 
The Google Maps view show how the place fits together. The pics on the website is very misleading ...

Agreed. I would have refused, painting the place while it's occuepied with PAYING guests is ridiculous!

I'd say there was no planning... Worst time of year to do maintenance as well... you do it outside of holiday season.
 
The problem was that I would've struggled to get other accommodation on such short notice. And it is exactly 9 dogs

It would've been a waste of time as any normal thinking person should know what is right and wrong. After discussion with my wife I decided to leave it to not make it uncomfortable for them for the rest of the time and just go with the flow.

The last couple of days it seemed she actively avoided me whilst outside. Only when we were inside she would walk around and do what she does.

Edit: We were also out doing things most of the time during the day. It is only the mornings and late afternoons that we were "home"

Good to know!

I don't think painting the place out with guests staying over is in accordance with Health & Safety. Are there any regulations regarding this?
 
Owners of guest houses can be quite arrogant. My mom rented a room in our old house when the kids moved out. She was quite bossy and demanding - I sometimes had to remind her who was paying.

Here we have a mixture of a dog lover imposing her brood and a proud house owner exerting dominance. Classic 'Faulty Tower's mistakes in what is a service industry.
