Search alternatives

Sometimes, it’s easy to conclude that Google is the only game in town. More than 75% of Web searches worldwide are done using Google, and in SA the figure is believed to be more than 80%. Yet there are alternatives to Google, and some of them are not bad. Here’s our selection

According to this article the best alternative (amazon) seems to match google's search results while the others are all a bit worse. Why bother with anything else when Google is the best and fastest search engine. Bit of a pointless article...

not just pointless, but uninformative. thanks for cluttering up the internet with this gem.

why the negative comments? I find it a bit refreshing over the billion "we need more broadband" articles

I've actually found Google annoying with it's "you are a bot". The beginning of this week I decided enough is enough. Google search can lose advertising and i switched to other search engines.

(having said that, i still only use gmail...)

Then there’s Live Search (live.com) from Microsoft Live is a bit of a Google clone (Microsoft isn’t exactly known for the originality of its products) and, frankly, its results are not as good as Google’s (yet), but it’s getting there fast. It’s one worth watching.

Had a good chuckle at this...
