The issue here isnt about abuse of power. Clearly, you are taking it personal.

The issue here is simple.

Can the police search your car without a warrent?

YES!

Not if you've got CD plates . Used to be "DIP".
I know because a uni friend had those and he'd drive through traffic stops with his middle finger extended. Of course that still didn't stop UCT campus
cops from clamping his illegally parked car and he had to fork
up the fine to have it released .

Prob pads or something Might even have been a toy I don't know and I don't ask. being married a while teaches you that if she doesn't tell you it's best not to ask She's pregnant now I can't see it being pads, unless she left them in there sometime ago already

Just out of interest. Whats the police or metro police rights to search a civilian motor vehicle. Basically most of the cars on the road.

I suspect searching your home requires some sort of warrant, but what about person searches or car searches if you get pulled over.

Usually with a huge road block (let's say a big road where they have 10+ cops going through all the vehicles) they have a "traffic search warrant" (allows them to search for illegal weapons, drugs, etc) and also checks your license and vehicle registration. That's the limit (allowed to search your person if suspicious) but there's no way of going overboard with that.

Well, the best way to get an answer is to go through a road block and say "NO" to when they ask to search your car - that person can let us know what happens.

Personally, I just say "sure" (with a smile)

EDIT: That's also because I'm not guilty.

Do you actually drive and get pulled over?
