Searching for a suitable router - MTN LTE

I’m confused. It says MyMTN Choice 10GB but it’s 70+70?

It’s just that only one 30+30 mentioned.

This must be one of the best LTE deals we have seen. I remember that Vodacom had an 80+30GB deal for R299 around this time last year but this MTN offer is even better. I am really hoping that they will improve the Fixed LTE offers very soon as the new spectrum comes online.

The signal strength also has a major influence on the LTE speeds and the routers are physically much larger with bigger antennas than a cell phone but most of the routers are using very old technology modems. I have been using my B618 for 2.5 years which is a long time in terms of rapidly changing cell phone technology.

Recently Qualcomm and Samsung have been able to get very impressive LTE speed improvements using multiple carriers. The older Cat 6 technology modems can only aggregate two carriers at once versus four in a Cat 16 device. The newer modems can aggregate both FDD and TDD carriers simultaneously while the older devices can't mix types. If the reception is good the newer technology modems should in theory perform substantially better than the older ones particularly when the new MTN TDD spectrum comes online. This might not always be the case if the reception is weak.

Keep us posted on how the two devices compare. The new spectrum should be coming online quite soon so it will be interesting to see if this makes any difference.

so 100% sure is 100 + 100 for this contract ?

and they dont remove half of the data few months in the contract

last tijme they did that with BF deals ..half the night data was removed

the times also changed

Speed test a few minutes ago. Not sure what band this is on, left as auto over night.Not much happened,just some browsing
I notice that just before 11 today it was getting some pretty decent speeds when downloading a file, but there are some drops

Try moving your router around... You want RSRP and RSRQ as close to 0 as you can get it (You'll never get 0).
For SINR you want as high as you can get it.

only have a few suitable places for it (aside from power, walls are pretty thick so have to run lan cables,and its a rented place so those cables are fully visible...yikes I know)

Will do so bud. Definitely seems like the nokia was much better.Considering the Nokia should give pretty decent results and by comparison thats the best I can get here, I might not get a new modem afterall. The gains seem marginal at best. While higher speeds would be nice, these speeds are much better than what I saw with rain, and we kinda accepted that fate for awhile haha
 
Good morning recently got a Cell C RTL30VW router. It worked for 5 minutes thereafter no signal. It shows as connected but no network. Tried changing apn since it's a rain sim but nothing. I have read all blogs tried everything, if theres anyone who can help me I'd appreciate that. Possibly with step by step guide.

I've had an information overload following the rain + telkom threads as to which router + sub model works on those networks.
I've all but abandoned Rain, might use Telkom night surfer here and there but not really too worried about it.

I'm looking for a good affordable router that'll replace the trusty B315 I currently have.
I find various models suggested in the LTE/A threads,

I've found the following, do they require special sub model numbers to work on MTN's better bands?
Speaking of bands, which does MTN make use of?

ZTE MF286
HUAWEI B525
HUAWEI B612 (isn't this discontinued?)
HUAWEI B618 (probably super expensive)

It will be used for the next two years if that helps anything

Unfortunately, MTN doesn't support ZTE MF286C, they only accept the MF286R on their LTE for home service.
I have the ZTE MF286C, and every time i connect they block me, i also got this message: "your current device doesn't match allowed devices for MTN made for home. your service is unavailable. tandc's".

This is bad business!
